Suemasa Hikaru is the creator of TarePanda. She named it that, simply because tare translates to lying on the tummy, which is what Tarepanda is seen doing frequently. It was originally created as a sticker concept in Japan in 1995. Tarepanda is aimed a pre-teen and teen girls, but the fanbase continuously expands, seeing as Tarapanda literally has created cult-like groups.
