Whats up Tila...how long have you been modeling?
Well it just stumbled upon me out of nowhere,
and it's funny because I haven't been modeling long
at all. I started maybe in October or so.
Do you feel any anxiety or excitement before making
an appearance at a major event?
Well...that's funny because I havent really done
much, so I guess maybe it would be exciting to me
because everything is so new. One day I'm laid out
at a friend's house, being a couch potato(watching
Friends), picking my nose, and passing gas(sorry I
know you guys didn't need to hear that!), and the
next thing you know I have all these people calling
me from all over the place, dressing me up, and taking
pictures of me. So yeah, I guess it could get pretty
exciting.
Today's fashions change at a frequent rate, what's
hot now may be outdated tomorrow. How do you keep
up with today's style?
Well, if you look around, you tend to notice a
cycle when it deals with style. Everything goes in
and out just like that! From skinny to voluptous,
and hippy-chic to alternative babe. I mean you can
never really try to keep up with today's trends, and
that's why I feel that it is so important to just
be yourself. To me style is not really about today's
trends and trying to fit in, it's about who you are
and the way you present yourself to others. I for
one, have always had my own style and feel that everything
I wear represents who I am. If it weren't for people
with different unique styles, the world would look
so boring! I just like it way better when people have
their own sense of fashion instead of always trying
to be trendy...I mean there's nothing wrong with being
trendy either, but just as long as you add your own
twist of style to it.
You and other Texas beauties are featured on Asian
Mode Productions 2001 Calendar, what was working on
that project like?
God!! Let's put it this way, no sleep, no food, and
non-stop work! I mean, the outcome was definitely
worth it, but you would never be able to tell just
by looking at the calendar that it was such hard work!
All in all it was fun and I guess I can say the outcome
paid off.
The first major event you made an appearance at
was the Import Expo in Houston...what were your thoughts
about it?
At first I swore that I would not do it whatsoever,
but eventually the people who ran the show happened
to be very convincing. I kept telling them that I
didn't want to do it, but yet they were like "C'mon,
it'll be soooo much fun!" And fun it was! At
first I was a little weirded out because I was just
not used to standing in front of a mass group of people,
gawking at me, and taking pictures. I actually felt
a little cheesy and uncomfortable at first, but after
like 5 hours or so, I got a little more used to it.
The only thing was that I felt like I was starting
to get wrinkles on my face from smiling all day long!
It turned out to be a very fun and interesting day
though.
