Race #6 was a 1 mile dirt race with a purse of $10,000, and only two-year olds computer created horses were eligible.
Race 6, which is one mile on dirt, was the claiming race for the 2 year olds. I hope everyone has there bids in because they are lining up to start. The two front runners Sailor and Riverflow were off in the lead followed closely by Happy Monarch. The mid-pack was a jostle for position between Essence, Rings of Saturn, Solar May, Angel in the Making, and Admiration. Both Honour Hour and Proud Prince fell into the last of the race.
As they neared the halfway mark there wasn’t much change in position but the pack made some considerable distance on the leaders. Angel in the Making slipped back with Honour Hour and Proud Prince. Sailor made a break away from the leaders and stretched the lead to a neck. As the last turn neared Sailor slipped back, obviously starting his break a little too early, while Riverflow took the lead. Essence started to really bring heat at the final stretch, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Riverflow. Rings of Saturn also made some good ground in the last stretch.
Riverflow came across the line first and Essence followed just a length behind. The third placing was a photo finish between Sailor and Rings of Saturn, but it seems Sailor placed before Rings of Saturn by just a head. Happy Monarch despite running a good race fell to 5th followed closely by Admiration. There was another photo finish for seventh as Solar May overcame Honour Hour by just a nose. Angel in the Making slipped all the way to 9th place despite a good start while Proud Prince came in last behind the leader by 6 lengths.
Congratulations to all the barns who bid on these wonderful horses. It seems as both Rocking R Ranch and Whitebrook Acres both bid on our winner. Sweet Shadowbrook Stables will get Essence and surprisingly no one bid on our third place finisher until just a day before the race. The other stables who bid on this race include Luckhorse Stables, Panche Racing Stables, Queen Elizabeth Raceway, Zephyr Wind Acres, Legacy Forever Stables, Three Winds Farm, and Leavenworth Ranch.
