 | Here is a view of the rudder spar and the left doubler (stiffener). The right doubler has already been temporarily installed with clecoes. (You can also see the portable drill press in the background.) Later, A4 (1/8 inch) Avex rivets will replace the clecoes to join the doublers to the spar.

The bottom rib has been temporarily attached to the spar with clecoes. Also the rudder control horn (the
thick piece of aluminum at the bottom right) has been
temporarily attached. Later these will be permanently
attached with Avex A5 (5/32 inch) rivets.

The rudder components have been laid out for painting. I am painting all surfaces which will mate to other surfaces with zinc chromate. Mating surfaces are more likely to trap water, and that is where corrosion will begin.
