| Okay! I had to move to the garage! I did not have enough room to move around all sides of the wing in my shop. Closing the nose skin. The nose ribs have been riveted to the bottom skin and the wing has been turned right-side-up. I am using 7 ratcheting load straps with pieces of plywood under the ratchets to protect the aluminum. There are also blocks duct-taped to the rear under the straps to protect the trailing edge aluminum. This is a slo-o-o-ow process. June 23, 2007 |
| The wood strips at the front of the nose skin are necessary to keep the edge of the aluminum straight and keep even pressure across the leading edge.

| PROBLEM! I blame global warming.
(That’s not it, but I have to blame this on something.)
When I was drilling into rib 2, I felt something was wrong. When I removed the nose skin and took a look, two holes were so close to the edge of the rib that the rivets were going to be useless. After I composed myself and drank a tall mocha latte, I drilled holes in the correct place on the rib in a random pattern making sure that each hole was spaced at least 10 mm from the nearest one, so there would be no danger of tear-through. It looks a sight, but it is airworthy. June 25, 2007 |
