| I am starting to use a new primer
for aluminum. It comes from Dupont and can
be brushed on. It is easier to use in a small
shop than a spray and offers good protection
against corrosion.

Here is the spar/rib assembly with the rear spar clamped in place and ready for rivetting to the ribs.

Here is the root rib after trimming. It must be trimmed to fit the
main spar. You can also see the new brushed-on primer has been applied to the forward flange.

The wing is being assembled upside down. This is the bottom skin after rivetting. A4 rivets were used for this. The flaperon brackets were clecoed into place for fitment purposes.

NOTE: To all of you who said I did not have enough room in my shop to build an 801 wing I just want to say, "YOU WERE RIGHT!" But I am going to do it anyway. There is not much room to swing tools with all that wing stuff, but so far so good. I will have to build the fuselage somewhere else. |

 | The main strut bracket. The aluminum angle is riveted to rib 4 and bottom skin with A5 rivets, and the thick piece of aluminum bar stock bolts to the main spar. (I went a little crazy with the primer here.)
