Left Wing, page 2

The bottom skin is riveted using A4 rivets with the exception of the 4th rib which was riveted with A5 rivets. Also the strut reinforcement pieces were also riveted using A5 rivets. One can see the tie-down ring in the foreground.

Closing the nose skin. I used 7 ratcheting load straps and 4 1X2 wood strips. (I have moved to the garage now.)

Riveting on the left wing nose skin went much smoother than on the right wing. A4 rivets were very straight and hit every underlying rib. I had 4 ribs that looked like the picture on the left and 3 ribs which looked like the right picture. On the left you can see where I marked the position of the slat bracket L-angle flange.

I forgot to take pictures of the rear skin attachment while it was on the wing stand. Anyway, here is a shot of the underside of the wing after the rear skin was riveted with A4 rivets. Clearly seen here is the cut-out made to accommodate the rear strut bracket.

DAMMIT! I just noticed that the pitot installation requires that the nose skin on the left wing be OPEN while installing the pitot assembly. I had to remove the rivets I just put into the nose skin! (Or at least enough of them that I can complete the pitot installation) Above on the left is the pitot tube connection to the pitot plumbing inside the wing. The plumbing passes through holes made in the nose ribs (on the right)
