My foremost rule: Don't do anything you see printed on my advice pages until you first clear it with your coach. I'm not your coach. I'm just an old man with a lot of experience who was asked to write some tips on summer training. These tips are mainly here to get you motivated and thinking. But if anything I say contradicts what your coach told you to do, do what your coach said instead of what I say here. If you see anything here that is new to you, talk to your coach about it before you actually do it. That said, click on the link below if the topic interests you. |
My name is Hristo Botev. I coached runners in Bulgaria before coming to this country to flee Communist oppression. I have lived in upstate New York since 1958. Even though my native country was freed from Communist tyranny in 1990, I decided to stay in America, because I love this country. Barry Comstock asked me to offer some tips on how to be ready for a fall cross country season. I hope you can learn something valuable from what follows. | |
