1. I want to start a hamster rescue. What do I do? Well, to have a hamster rescue, you first must be knowledgable about hamsters. You also must have all the supplies required(extra cages, food, toys, water bottles, bedding, etc.) You must be able to take your hamsters to the vet if they get sick. You also need to advertise(flyers, newspaper, etc.) Your going to have to handle these hamsters as often as possible so they are social and friendly. Having a rescue is a lot of work.

2. My hamster had babies! what do I do? If your hamster has had babies, then the best thing to do is to just leave her and the babies alone. Do not touch the babies, becaus if your scent gets on them, she might eat them. The only time you should touch/change anything in the cage, is when you are changing her food or water. At 2 weeks old the babies will begin to open their eyes, and you will be able to hold them for short periods of time.

3.I have a Syrian hamster also called as a Panda bear hamster ok she just had baby's and i was wandering how long will it be b/4 the baby's open there eyes and grow there fur and how long i need to wate to pick them up and clean out her cage. When a hamster has babies, you need to leave the mother and babies alone for 2 weeks.. do not clean the cage until their eyes open(10-15 days old) by that time you can handle the babies. by the time they are 3-3 1/2 weeks old they need to be seperated from mama and you need to but all the females in one cage and all the males in another. then at 5-6 weeks old they can be sold.

4.I've never had a hamster before so I'm wondering, what is the best type of hamster for some one who has never owned one, and which is the easiest to handle? So, you want a hamster! That's great! Hamsters make wonderful pets. Since you would be new to owning one of these little precious wonders, I would suggest starting off with a syrian hamster (commonly known as a teddy bears hamster) for your first pet. They are slower and bigger than the dwarf hamsters, so they are easleir to handle. If you are interested in learning more about syrian hamsters, you can check out my syrian hamster page on the main site.
