The Toronto Maple Leafs organization was established in 1927.They were originally known as the St.Pat's but were bought by Conn Smythe in 1928 and re-named the Maple Leafs. The original team colours were green and white and they remained that way a year after the team name changed. The team colours have since been Their home arena, Maple Leaf Gardens, was opened in 1931 and from there the Leafs won their first Stanley Cup. During the 1940's the Leafs brought home five stanely cups, the most cups won by a single team in the same decade. Some past Leaf captains include:Hap Day,Red Horner Ted Kennedy, George Armstrong, Dave Keon, Darryl Sittler, Wendel Clark, Doug Gilmore and Mats Sundin.
The Leafs are my favourite hockey team and hockey is my favourite sport. Watching Hockey Night in Canada on Saturday night is my favourite family activity, especially Coach's Corner with Don Cherry. Toronto remains patriotic to the Leafs though its been a while since we've won a cup.Though its the off season the leaf flame burns within its fans. GO LEAFS GO!!
