Contestant Eligibility

Contestants shall agree to abide by all of the rules and regulations set forth by the Miss Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas Pageant Executive Board. Failing to meet any of the eligibility rules will disqualify a Contestant from the competition.
Each Contestant in the Miss Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas Pageant:

1.       must be a resident of Jefferson, Hardin, Orange, Chambers, Newton or Jasper County
2.       must not have previously been, or presently be, married and/or with child
3.       must not have ever been convicted of a crime
4.       must be registered for the correct age category according to their birthday on the day of the pageant

Rules and Regulations

There is a maximum of 20 contestants per category.
Each Contestant is required to submit a non-refundable $65.00 entry fee with her application.
Each category will have a Photogenic Winner (included in package).  Bonus titles including: Most Beautiful, Best Personality, Best Costume and Best Interview will be given this year as another way to win!
Checks and Money Orders are accepted.  These should be made out to: TIFFANY DENNIS
All returned checks will be charged a $25.00 processing fee.
If your application is received and the category has been filled, you will receive a full refund.
A Contestant, or any individual related to a Contestant, must not approach Judges with the intent to influence, harass or question the results. The judges' decision is final.  Score sheet information will NOT be available.
Poor sportsmanship may affect future eligibility to compete in the Miss Mardi Gras of Southeast Texas Pageant.
The Director will not convey individual results to any contestant during the Cover Miss sales period to prevent cheating.
We reserve the absolute right and discretion to publicly display photographs or video footage of contestants/winners for any advertisement or publicity purposes through the media or the Miss Mardi Gras website.


For Miss Teen & Miss Contestants only!
  Interview date and times will be announced at Orientation.  Each contestant will meet with 3 judges.  Miss Teen 3-minute interview, Miss 5-minute interview.  Dress is professional.  Interviews are 50% of the overall score.

Pageant Wear

This pageant requires formal pageant wear, no Sunday Dress please. Ages 4-5: Knee or Tea-length; Ages 6-9: Tea or Floor-length; 10 and up: Floor-length only.  High-slit or low-cut revealing dresses are not acceptable.  If you have any questions about the dress that you choose to wear, please consult the Director for assistance.  For our older girls, Beauty is 40% of the overall score.

Mardi Gras Theme Wear

Miss Teen and Miss contestants only!  Each girl will be displaying their own personal style in colors and design.  Be creative, be original, and have fun with it!  Anything goes and modeling styles will be your own.  The outfit itself will NOT be judged.  This category is included in your overall score.  The judges will also select the contestant with the Best Costume as a separate title from the scoring system. Make the most of it - Mardi Gras IS only once a year!  Themewear is 10% of the overall score.


Each category will have a Photogenic Winner!  This is a separate category and has no bearing on the outcome of the pageant.  All Contestants must submit a 5X7 or 8X10 photo, with their name and category on the back.  Snapshots or professional shots, black & white or color is accepted. Turn these in at the registration table - on the day of the pageant.  Pick them up as you exit.
