INTRODUCTION I am Lyka Tabug and my first year in Eastlake High School has been a very important part of life’s journey. I would describe this year as a roller coaster ride because I experience excitement and fear at the same time. Everything and everyone changed this year and from these changes I discovered the true meaning of life. I learned to stand on my own while helping others. I also learned to manage time and my priorities and above all, I discovered the importance of respect. One of the hardest parts about being in high school is homework. I was not use to having homework in middle school and having numerous homework in ninth grade is a big change. There is never enough time to finish my homework and sometimes I feel like I have to give up but the bad part is that giving up is not an option in high school. Each student has to do their best in order to achieve their goals. Like others, I tried my best to be satisfied with my grades. I’ve lost some of my friends from middle school this year and I felt sad about growing apart from them but I realized that I couldn’t keep all my friends forever. I trained myself to move on and make new friends. I don’t regret having to lose my old friends because I believe in the saying: “You lose some, you gain some.” My freshman year is really an unforgettable experience. I learned many things about school and life. I’ve grown in many ways and I can say that I am ready to tackle challenges that I might face in my sophomore year.
