Chapter 6

Crying on the Inside
By: Stacey Scott

Michelle held JC's hand as they walked down the hall together that Monday at school. They looked at each other from time to time admiring one another. They got stares especially from girls who liked JC. Michelle didn't mind that he had so many girls that liked him. He was cute. When they reached their lockers they split up but kept staring at each other and smiling as if they had a secret they hid from the world.

After school that day the six of them met by their cars in the parking lot to discuss things.

"Where to today?" Joey said. Brianna was wiping lipstick off his cheek.

"We haven't been the hangout lately," JC said.

The hangout was a diner that kids from their school went to hang out after school. They decided to go but not to hang out. They had to make the ususal appearance. When they got there it was the ususal crowd. The more well known kids who were worthy to hang out with such as fellow cheerleaders and ball players. They sat at their table and the waitresses there knew what they liked to eat and didn't even bother to go to the table to ask. They were served in less than 15 minutes. After they ate they decided to hang out for a while. Some guys from the team came by to talk to the guys. Michelle excused herself to go to the bathroom. She checked her appearance in the mirror before going into the stall. Once in there she heard two girls come in after her. They immediatley began to talk.

"Did you see Josh? Fine as hell as usual," a girl said. Michelle recognized her voice as Philiana Ng, a girl from her English class. Philiana was pretty in Michelle's opinion. She was about 5'7 with wavy light brown hair that had auburn streaks and dark brown eyes. She was half Hawaiian and half Caucasion and had a very fair complexion. Michelle thought she was one of the prettiest girls in school besides herself Brianna and Heather. The two of them never spoke to each other but weren't enemies.

"Girl he is taken and you know that," another girl said. Michelle did't recognize her voice so easy but assumed it was Jackie Anderson, Philiana's best friend. She also had brown hair but hers went all the way to her butt. She had blue/green eyes and was about 5'5. She was very pretty to and gave Michelle the most competition when it came to fashion.

"Who cares! I flirt with him a lot and it seems to get through sometimes but that girl is standing in my way. I hope they break up and I could have him," Philiana said.

"Break up! Please he's cute she's pretty and they make the perfect couple. I don't like her as much as you do but at least you've got to admit the truth," Jackie said. Michelle heard Philiana sigh.

"Well it doesn't hurt to try to take him away. When I kissed him he didn't seem to mind," Philiana said laughing.

"When did this happen!" Jackie said excitedly.

"Last week. You should see the way he looks at me sometimes. You could see it in his face that he's not getting any. I feel bad for him his girlfriend's a prude," Philiana said.

"Girl you are so bad," Jackie said. Michelle couldn't hear the rest of what they were saying and then heard the door close. She was so angry she didn't know what to do. She left out the bathroom forgetting to use it. She walked up to the table and stood there. JC stood up so she could sit back in her seat.

"I'm leaving," she said to them and walked out. She heard Heather and Brianna say something and then get up. JC went with them. Michelle ran to her car tears in her eyes.

"Michelle what's the matter?" Brianna yelled. She was already at her car and she got in and drove away. In her car she cried. How could JC kiss her? Why did the two of them hate her so much? She thought she had no enemies but she was wrong. Once she got home she went to her room. She sat on the bed thinking of something to say to JC. She didn't want to yell and make a scene to make him upset. She knew he would come by and he did a few minutes later. She heard the doorbell and went downstairs. They were all there to see how she was.

"Are you okay?" JC and Heather asked.

"I'm fine," she said moving aside so they could come in.

"Why did you leave like that?" Joey asked.

"I was upset. JC can we talk?" she said. JC got up and followed her in the kitchen. He hugged her and she let him.

"What's wrong?" he asked sincerely.

"I heard something from Philiana. She said you kissed her," she said calmly.

"Philiana from English class?" JC asked. She nodded. JC's expression changed from sincere to guilty to upset.

"Are you accusing me of kissing her?" JC said a little angry.

"No I'm just asking," Michelle said now sorry that she had even brought it up.

"I can't believe you would think I would do that. You know I love you. Well maybe you don't know that," JC said now even more angry.

"JC I was just.." she said softly.

"No maybe you don't love me. Is that it?" he asked cutting her off.

"Yes I love you," she said going to hug him but he pushed her away.

"No you don't. You know what I'm leaving," he said turning away. Michelle started to cry and went after him. She hugged him even though he didn't hug her back.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I do love you. JC please don't leave," she said. He hugged her back and Michelle forgot all about Philiana.

"I love you to," he said. They kissed and forgot about the whole situation.

JC stood there hugging his girlfriend and laughed to himself abut how easy it was to get out of that predicament. He was guilty because he did kiss Philiana but he couldn't actually confess to it. So he turned the whole thing around and like all the other times it worked. At first he felt bad when he did that to her because he did love her. But after finding out how easy it was to make her feel guilty about not loving him, he did it all the time. He kissed her and made her forget what she even asked. He decided to use his technique to get more out of her. He knew he would get what he wanted out of her. It was just a matter of time.
