“Harrity Scaritty, on the mountain-side, in the realm of the dead, how will you escape, how will you be fed? With the living and the undead”…

Nestled on Lake Superior in northern Wisconsin is a small, secluded town called Bloodmoon Cove with volatile weather, suspicious folk…and newly awakened ghosts bent on revenge. Esmeralda “Esme” Dumas comes to the town looking to find work surrounded by wide-open nature, and most of all looking for a place to hide.

Park Ranger John Kotter has returned to his hometown after a decade away. He left Bloodmoon Cove under the cruel and mistaken accusations of the townspeople that he was to blame for the suicide of his girlfriend, a local daughter. When his father goes missing on the mountain and is presumed dead, his mother asks him to come home and take over the family legacy. Generations of Kotter men, including his great-great grandfather Harrity, have run Bloodmoon Cove Park, and John can't help but remember how much he loved this place as a boy. When he finds the squatter in the campground host house, he can't help wondering if she had anything to do with his father's disappearance. John also senses Esme has ghosts of her own.

As a child, Esme was kidnapped and locked in a cold, dark basement. Her friends were rodents, insects, and the changeable terror that held her hostage. The only thing that kept her sane those nightmare years were her books. She’s been on the run since her escape a few months ago, never expecting to find another bound spirit come back to life.

An unsuspecting nurse is lured to an ancient family mansion said to hold both ghosts and horrifying secrets in order to care for three orphaned children.

Amberlyn Lyons has recently suffered a devastating miscarriage that has torn her marriage apart and shaken her faith. She quietly takes a nanny position at an isolated mansion in Bloodmoon Cove without electricity, telephone, or ease of passage. The moment she walks into Bloodmoon Manor, Amberlyn deduces that all things aren't as they seem. The eerily similar owners distrust doctors who, in thirty years, have been unable to cure their severely deformed daughter Katerina. Katerina both idolizes and despises Amberlyn for her beauty. Childishly cruel, Katerina enjoys tormenting the orphans by telling them tales of the malicious ghost that haunts the decaying mansion.

Amberlyn discounts the paranormal legends as made-up stories until she hears the shuffling of footsteps in the cold, dark halls and feels that she's being watched at every turn. She knows the ghost is real and she must protect the children. But when she discovers a graveyard behind the mansion filled with babies who died at birth or shortly thereafter, she realizes the ghost of Bloodmoon Manor is really a family curse and she was brought there to uphold the family legacy of that curse. Either she finds a way to escape with the children...or she becomes the next bloodmoon bride.

Note to readers of the first edition of THE BLOODMOON CURSE (published by Samhain Publishing): In order to fit this book into my new series, Bloodmoon Cove Spirits, minor changes had to be made to it concerning some of the secondary characters in the book who later become main characters in another series book. Other minor changes were also made. Nothing too major, but those who have read the previous version will have to read the revision in order to take into account those changes necessary to tell the story within this series.

Some doors, once opened, can never be closed again…

Orphan and widow Corinne Zellman is stunned when she receives several urgent letters from a lawyer, telling her she’s the only surviving heir of Edward Buchanan, a relative of her recently deceased husband. Though Corinne ignores the first few summons, too grieved to consider them anything but cruel hoaxes, she takes notice when yet another arrives, this time with a family ring identical to the one her husband wore and lost just before he was killed. Stuck in a dead end job and curious about the family the love of her life seldom spoke of, she reluctantly pulls up stakes and heads to Bloodmoon Cove, where the persistent elderly gentleman lives. There, with her best friend Ruby, she finds Crooked House, the family "estate". Crooked House certainly lives up to its disturbing name, as does Edward Buchanan, who is old and pale and disappears so frequently she can almost believe he's nothing more than a ghost. It isn't long before Corinne begins to suspect that her new family member had ulterior motives for insisting she come live with him. But to believe that is to believe that Rafe Yager, a hardened soldier, is entirely correct when he says Crooked House is dangerous. The longer she stays, the less chance she'll ever leave again.

Ghost hunter Rafe is one of the last descendants of the Mino-Miskwi Native American tribe whose elders disappeared during a ritual at their sacred place at the top of Bloodmoon Mountain. Rafe has come home based on a terrifying vision of wide-eyed, wholesome dreamer Cori losing her soul to an evil she doesn't recognize. Crooked House is falling and its sinister legacy demands recompense for her husband's death--something that was no accident, as she supposed. Can Rafe save Cori from a sacrifice she never meant to make when she unknowingly came to love a monster?

Back into the mouth of hell…

Daniel and Hannah Reynolds are newly married with their first child on the way when a notice comes from a lawyer saying that the remaining member of the Bonavaris clan has died and willed Bloodmoon Manor and all its possession to Hannah, her former maid and cook. While Hannah can’t fathom the reason for the bequeath, the notion of selling the manor and the valuable items inside it begins to grow inside her like an obsession. She and Daniel have begun their married life with little more than outstanding debts from his medical education—debts that come due around the same time as the birth of their baby. After a lifetime of poverty, Hannah refuses to allow her child to face the kind of scavenging, hand-to-mouth existence that had led to her employment at the horrible Bloodmoon Manor in the first place.

Unable to convince his beloved wife to forget about returning to Bloodmoon Cove to secure a future for their family, Daniel has no choice but to follow her into what he aptly calls “the mouth of hell”—a place Hannah just barely escaped with her life last time.

Daniel’s worst fears are justified when the doors of Bloodmoon Manor slam shut behind them. They’ve been lured here deliberately, and the horrors that haunt the dark, evil castle aren’t willing to let Hannah leave ever again…

Note to readers who may have read the original edition of THE BLOODMOON CURSE (published once upon a time by Samhain Publishing), which is something of a prequel to this story: In order to fit this new story in with secondary characters Hannah and Daniel in THE BLOODMOON CURSE (who have become main characters in this new book), I had to make some tweaks and changes to their characters, actions and, very minorly, to their physical descriptions while revising THE BLOODMOON CURSE in order to set up for this new book. Nothing too major, but those who have read the previous version may need to read the revision in order to take into account those changes necessary to tell the story in RETURN TO BLOODMOON MANOR.

Status of this book: Outline, first draft and revision complete; planning to polish in late August 2016.

After a teenage pregnancy and a shotgun marriage, Danielle Knight and Andy Bennett tried to balance school, their relationship and being young parents…unsuccessfully. Divorce was inevitable, and the two moved in different directions. Andy started a successful graphic design business while Dani’s art career took off with the help of her agent, Douglas Marx, a man whose reputation for turning unknown female artists into international celebrities was spoken of in art circles in hushed tones as if he’d used black magic. Dani has dismissed the rumors, but she knows Douglas’s intentions aren’t entirely business ones when he invites her and her young son David to join him at his family cabin in the small, picturesque town of Bloodmoon Cove. Andy has been coming around again, and Dani finds it harder and harder to resist the love of her life that she’s never gotten over and can’t imagine ever forgetting—even if she knows it might be the best thing for her. Upon arriving at the cabin to give herself time to consider what to do about her ex-husband’s desire to get back together, Dani notices a striking painting of a woman. In the days that follow, she finds herself obsessively drawn to the painting. It’s haunting her and, more than that, it’s changing, becoming the face of someone familiar. Even as Douglas encourages her to become inspired by the painting, she knows something is wrong and she fears what’s happening to her. She’s no longer sure she can save herself from the face in the painting that’s becoming more and more like her own. Can Andy arrive in time to prevent her from falling victim to this haunted legacy?

For most of her life, Sibylla Nygard has had horrifying dreams about a house with hidden rooms, shocking secrets…and the vision of her own death.

Following a troubled childhood, always being different, always something missing in her life, and her adult years filled with the lonely singular focus on her career, Sibylla marries her much older interior decorating partner. Tobias Silverstein is the opposite of every man Sibylla has ever met. They've been best friends for most of her adult life, traveling the world together for their lucrative business headquartered in Grimoire, Wisconsin. Tobias is cultured and educated with an infectious sense of humor, and he makes her feel beautiful instead of unnatural and unattractive, the way she knows she is to other people. When he's injured on the job, he makes the decision to retire to better enjoy his remaining health. He's had an eye on an elaborate, isolated estate on Bloodmoon Mountain in Bloodmoon Cove, not far from Grimoire, and intends to restore Howling Halls to its former glory.

On sight, Sibylla falls in love with the old stone mansion with seemingly endless corridors and rooms, though she doesn't relish the idea of spending long, harsh winters secluded on the mountain-top, all but trapped during frequent blizzards potentially without electricity, communication or accessibility. During a blissful summer after the purchase and move-in, Sibylla discovers she's pregnant. Tobias worries about living on the mountain in the winter, but Sibylla finds herself too enchanted to considering moving, even for a season. She puts trusted employees in charge of running the business, planning to savor every moment of this previously unimagined stage in her life. Tobias hires a full staff, including a nurse, to inhabit the grand estate with them during the winter, and they settle in with everything they could ever want or need.

Fierce winter transforms the cheery, wooded grounds into a gray, bleak landscape unsuitable for traversing. As the seemingly unending snow storms stretch before them, Sibylla begins to explore new sections of Howling Halls, soon discovering the reason for the name. The four winds sound as if they're centered on their new home, and sometimes she believes they have voices…the voices of crying children--children she can't help but believe are leading her to find them. Sibylla is led to the original blueprints for the house, revealing hidden rooms, horrible secrets…and unforgiving ghosts keen to be unburied.

Isabelle Riley hasn't merely inherited a home but also the creepy ghosts that inhabit it.

Just out of college and eager to get a cake decorating career up and running, Isabelle doesn't have a lot of options when she gets the news that she's inherited an old Victorian house in Bloodmoon Cove. Without the financial means to do much of anything, the inheritance seems like a boon…until she and her best friend slash business partner Marshall Dugan pack up their frugal lives in Madison and head for what they expect will be bigger and better things for them. Instead, they find the town is smaller than a speck on the map, with little business potential, and the house that they'd imagined could provide them both a place to live and start their shop in is in need of major renovations after it was struck catastrophically by lightning a hundred years ago. Upon arrival, Marsh sees a face in a ruined upper turret, and, based on the cell phone picture he takes, they begin to suspect the place may be haunted. Weird electrical disturbances, cold spots, creaking floorboards and unnatural voices whispering or shrieking chillingly are just the tip of the iceberg.

Isabella senses one ghost in particular is trying desperately to communicate with her and, when she finds boxes of old letters in the basement, she pieces together the tragic story of a poor man who found true love and had everything he ever wanted in this very house…until he lost it to the ghost of a woman he'd inadvertently scorned and her heart-broken, revenge-driven mother who couldn't accept her loss when her daughter killed herself over his rejection. As Isabelle digs deeper, she discovers the man was her great-grandfather, Roman Torres, a Mexican immigrant who came to America to get his education and fell in love with and married a beautiful American girl, the daughter of a local business owner. Roman is haunting her, obviously trying to tell her something about his untimely death that Isabelle begins to suspect has something to do with the woman he spurned. Kesara's ghost, and the ghost of her mother, are still here and this time they plan to finish what they started in destroying every part of Roman's life and legacy.
