Below, you'll find information about some of the as-yet unsold or unpublished projects I am and will be working on.

Note from Karen: Though I originally intended RETIRED AND ON THE ROCKS for a publisher who requested a mystery novella from me, we couldn't come to an adequate compromise, so the book eventually became a novel and the first in a trilogy. I'm currently shopping the first book around to publishers. See details below.
Genre: Inspirational Romantic Mystery
RETIRED AND ON THE ROCKS (Denim Blues Mysteries, Book 1)
A missing engagement ring leads to murder.
It’s been a month since Denim McHart hung up his private investigating career after he ended up with a bullet in his leg. The injury has forced Den to re-evaluate future goals in his career, his love-life and his spiritual life. To keep himself busy in early retirement, he’s been attempting to restore an antique table and he’s officially bored. He can’t seem to keep his mind off his investigative partner, the lovely and complicated Sylvia Price whom he’s had an on-again, off-again romantic relationship with in the past. When Sylvia calls him out of the blue, he doesn’t waste time getting down to their office. In this past month, Sylvia has been dealing with her own feelings for Den, her overwhelming guilt for the pivotal event that happened years ago and caused her mother to be mentally unstable, coinciding with her inability to forgive herself the way she knows the Lord has forgiven her. Before the sparks can fly between Den and Sylvia in the direction he has his heart set, she says they’ve got company. Jilted bride Naomi Deva tells him that her groom—Mayor Thomas Julian—dumped her at the altar. Reluctantly, she admits he’d caught her in a compromising position with the best man only minutes before the ceremony. Naomi also reveals the reason why she’s sought them: The local police department hasn’t been able to turn up the 6.1 carat diamond engagement ring Thomas gave her…and the groom wants it back. Immediately.
LOVE IS BLIND...AND IT DON'T PAY THE BILLS EITHER (Denim Blues Mysteries, Book 2)
Genre: Inspirational Romantic Mystery
Briar’s Point Police Department Detective Orlando Bateman and his partner Tyler Shaw attempt to solve a missing person case. Keeya Nilsen, blind since birth, comes to them and has a justifiably bad attitude about love, since all the men she’s ever loved have cheated on her and robbed her blind...including the last one, who absconded with some of her most prized possessions—her grandfather’s unpublished blues songs—when he flew the coop. As together they search for her last boyfriend, Orlando reminds Keeya about her childhood faith and makes her see love as God intends.
SOULS ON (B)ORING STREET (Denim Blues Mysteries, Book 3)
Genre: Inspirational Romantic Mystery
Erin Shanley, a hospice nurse, becomes an amateur sleuth when she realizes some of her patients are being swindled out of their life savings by the new “psychic” fortuneteller in Briar’s Point. Erin’s neighbor, Detective Tyler Shaw, whom she went to school with, is someone she’s always had a bit of a crush on. But this shy, sweet guy has been burned in love and isn’t sure he’s the right material for any woman, even someone as amazing as Erin.

Note from Karen: More Woodcutter's Grim Series stories. This second volume focuses on the oldest family in Woodcutter's Grim, the Shaussgenys (yes, owners of the cursed cabin spoken of in the first volume stories). This "mini" series within the larger series will focus on the family curse and the resolution of that curse.
Genre: Romantic Horror Novellas
Book 4: "A Friend in Need": Very loosely based on “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.” When her child becomes deathly ill and none of the doctors and specialists can help him, Heather Rowe rushes to Woodcutter’s Grim, hoping the boy’s father can explain what’s happening. But Lance Shaussgeny both intrigues and terrifies Heather as much as what he’s told her of his hometown does. She soon learns that nothing in Woodcutter’s Grim—including Lance—is what it seems.
intended for TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume VII, A JOTQ Anthology (March 2011 release)
Book 5: "Bewitched": Very loosely based on "The Little Mermaid", in which a woman becomes bewitched by a mystery man with dark secrets who appears out of nowhere on the abandoned property across the lake from the Shaussgeny estate. Glynnis Shaussgeny's story.
intended for Bewitched & Bejeweled, A JOTQ Halloween Anthology (September 2013 release)
Book 6: "One Night of Eternity": Loosely based on "The House That Jack Built", in which Jack Shaussgeny has cheated on his beloved wife and tries to redeem himself, but the house that he's built for himself is rapidly beginning to tumble down around him. Lance and Glynnis' grandfather's story.
intended a bonus story in Woodcutter's Grim Series collection, Volume II (late 2013 or early 2014 release)
Book 7: "Beauty is the Beast": Very loosely based on "Beauty and the Beast", in which a shapeshifter is trapped in his beast form and isolates himself in the family fortress. When a beautiful enchantress appears, insistent that she's there to break the family curse, the man no longer knows who or what is real. Lance and Glynnis younger brother Ransom's story.
intended as a bonus story in Woodcutter's Grim Series collection, Volume II (late 2013 or early 2014 release)

Note from Karen: I've never done a cowboy romance before, but I've always wanted to because cowboys live a life I can respect and admire. I first created the fictional cowboy town of Fever, Texas in UNDER THE SPELL and then carried it into "Perfect Cadence" and "In Cahoots With Cupid," the first two books in my Kaleidoscope Series.

Genre: Contemporary Romance Novellas
Return to cowboy country in Fever, Texas, where the heat isn't the only thing causing a fever!
Book 1: "Wings of Love": When Wings “Mac” Mackenzie (brother of Ki Mackenzie, hero in "In Cahoots With Cupid") falls in love, it’s for life, and interior designer Amanda Grant is the woman he has his heart set on. When he asked her to move in with him at his fixer-upper ranch in Fever, Texas--the dinky little town he and his younger brother grew up in--he’d expected to be there with her often. Unfortunately, as co-owner of a family-owned engineering firm situated in Los Angeles, Mac finds himself spending more time than ever before overseeing projects when his brother becomes a family man. With Amanda making the house a home for them, he struggles to get his business matters in hand so he can settle down with her, the way he longs to. An on-the-job injury puts his life in perspective. Eager to become a full-time rancher, he returns to the ranch at Christmas-time, ready to make the ultimate commitment to Amanda—only to find her long gone.
intended for CHRSTMAS WISHES, A JOTQ Christmas Anthology (September 2011 release)
Book 2: "Losses and Gains": Lance Olsen, Triple Aces Ranch co-owner, married Colleen Gaines. They had a son named Gavin. Colleen and died in the fire that took Reggie Calhoun, the previous owner of the Triple Aces Ranch. Colleen's baby sister is named Janaya. She left the ranch right out high school to pursue a different life. In this book, she returns home, never expecting to fall for her sister's husband.
intended for HEART GEMS, A JOTQ Valentine's Day Anthology (February 2012 release)
Book 3: "For Always": Jared Chapman is the ranch foreman at Triple Aces, which he co-owns. Alana Hamilton is the orphan girl Jared's parents brought to the ranch when she was a little girl. As a child, Jared gave Alana a ring and promised he would always be there for her. Knowing Jared will never share her feelings, Alana married an abusive politician named Holt. Jared, who'll barely admit to himself he's in love with Alana and was devastated when she married Holt, is furious when Alana calls him in terror of her husband. True to his promise, Jared runs to her rescue but finds it isn't easy to take a pompous politician down a notch.
intended for TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume VIII ( September 2012 release)
Book 4: "Taming April": Shawn Jacobs co-owns Triple Aces. April St. Clair, once a classmate of Shawn's, is lawyer. April's younger sister worked on a ranch and she and April didn't get along well. April's sister died recently, leaving behind a horse named Amethyst that hasn't yet been broken. April asks Shawn to tame the horse, but April is spoiled rotten and turns her nose up at ranch living.and the cowboy life. But even she isn't immune to cowboy fever.
intended for TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IX (March 2013 release)
Book 5: "The Only One": Ken Abrams, Triple Aces co-owner, and Karla Sanford-Abrams were expecting their first child. Tragedy took that child from them and drove them to opposite sides. They've been separated for over a year now, and it's time to make a decision: wash their hands of the marriage, or deal with their grief together.
Bonus story in the Cowboy Fever Series collection (mid to late 2013 release)
Book 6: "Drifter's Heart": Easy to love, hard to hold... Maggie May's Pa is still looking for the cowboy who knocked up his cowgirl vixen daughter three years ago. Little Tex has grown up without a father, but he's the shining star of the May Ranch. Just like is father, though, he's always running off and disappearing. Just when Maggie May thinks it'll never happen, the drifter she loved shows up, suddenly wise to the fact that his oh-so-altruistic efforts to quiet her endless stream of conversation had ended with a child. Horse trainer for hire, Ryder McCall is back in Fever, Texas working on the Triple Aces Ranch, and Maggie May plans to get him back in her clutches-and win his heart forever this time.
Bonus story in the Cowboy Fever Series collection (mid to late 2013 release)

Note from Karen: This is a story I have mostly outlined about a vampire hunter in the future who discovers a terrible secret his father left behind for him.
Genre: Futuristic Paranormal Romance

Note from Karen: This is an scream-out-loud idea for a horror that I have still in the early stages. It'll be about a woman who can't forget her past and the death of her younger sister. When she goes home to sell the family property, she's confronted with all the nightmare-realities of her childhood, still alive and well, right where she left them.
Genre: Horror

Note from Karen: I have numerous ideas for a book irresisibly titled CLUMSY GIRL'S GUIDE TO FALLING IN LOVE in my head that I'm dying to write about a heroine who's not only clumsy, but annoying to almost everyone around her--inadvertently. Zoe Rossdale is actually a secondary character in a series book that I'm currently working on [GLASS ANGELS]. I just fell in love with this loveable klutz the first time she hit the page. Hopefully I'll have time to write this book in 2010.
Genre: Inspirational Romance

Note from Karen: Michael and LeeAnn's story is one I've had with me for at least a decade, but I've never quite finished it. LeeAnn Wagner is a secondary character in [GLASS ANGELS] and Michael Fremont is Jay Samuels; friend in the Marines in [SHARDS OF ASHLEY]. I hope to have time to write their story in 2010.
Genre: Inspirational Romance

Note from Karen: I had a very disturbing dream about a woman living in a city she abhors because it's not a safe, nor is the area in that city she and her husband and her little boy reside. When her husband dies very unexpectedly, she's confronted with figuring out where her home is with her young son and trying to come to terms with the loose ends her husband left their lives in.
Genre: Inspirational Fiction

Note from Karen: Though most of my books at Hard Shell Word Factory are at a standstill, I do have plans to someday finish what I started with my Angelfire Trilogy, which is filled with characters who need their own books. My plans:
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Book 1: ONLY THE LONELY: Mikey Lund (mechanic at Brett Foxx's garage) and Diane Hoffman (friend of Darlene Foxx)
Book 2: MIDNIGHT ANGEL: Jamie ("Doobs") Dubois (friend of Brett and Mikey) and Roxanne ("Rox") Hart (friend of Darlene and Diane)
Book 3: SHADOWS OF THE NIGHT: Cherish Stephenson (Darlene's boss) and Ty Foxx (Brett and Darlene's brother)

Note from Karen: Again, in part due to the fact that most of my books at Hard Shell Word Factory are at a standstill and also because I moved on to so many other projects, these last two books in my Dare to Love Trilogy (RESTLESS AS RAIN was the first book) are still on my list of books to write someday.
Genre: Romantic Suspense
Book 2: KNOCK ON WOOD: Carmen Saxon (Justin Pascal's best friend) and Mallory Novak (Rain Meyer's sister)
Book 3: CRIMES OF PASSION: Bobby Peterson (Justin's "charge") and Melina Souther (waitress at the restaurant)
