Felicity is sexy beyond belief, but Ruth was this year's pie queen at the
fair-a force to be reckoned with. But a pie contest between the women goes
awry when the pie judge in front of Henri drops dead after tasting
Felicity's
pie. Was Henri the real target? Who wants him dead? Was it one of Santa's
two prospective wives, who both have surprising backgrounds? Or did somebody

Reviews for TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume III:
5 angels! "TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume III again brings readers a wonderful collection of stories from Jewels of the Quill authors. This time there are seven different romance stories spread across several genres. Each tale is a treasure and both exciting and fun to read. Set aside some time before you delve into this anthology. You will not want to put it down until you have read every story.
""The Turquoise Talisman" (North of Nonesuch Series, Book 2) by Jane Toombs kicks off this anthology and what a way to start! I love the paranormal surprises Ms. Toombs throws in this series. This story has all my favorite elements-adventure, danger, a hot guy, special powers or abilities, and romance. I can't wait to see what will be in the next story. Keep this series coming, Ms. Toombs!
"Do you believe in curses? In "The Tanzanite Curse" by C.J. Winters, Jillian Beaufort doesn't believe in curses or strange paranormal occurrences but nothing can explain what happens when she buys "The Tanzanite" and meets Drew Ferris. This is a wonderful, inventive and entertaining story. Normally I would say I don't believe in curses but I'm not so sure after reading Ms. Winters' story, and there is a sequel coming in Tales from the Treasure Trove, Volume IV. I can't wait to see if I still believe there may be a curse on the tanzanite stone.
"In "Princess Sapphire" by Nancy Pirri, Mathew Black has the difficult task of being a guardian for Laura Woodbury and ensuring that she marries and isn't taken advantage of. This story is an excellent western, historical romance. I loved the willful, stubborn, independent Laura and the befuddled Mathew. Although Mathew is a strong man, like you would expect in this type of tale, he really has no idea what to do with Laura! This story will charm you, entertain you, and leave you feeling warm and content believing that love truly can conquer all!
"The third installment of Christine DeSmet's Mischief in Moonstone Series, "Mrs. Claus and the Moonstone Murder" finds Lily Schuster, the newly appointed county deputy serving Moonstone, Wisconsin, going out on a call about a man digging for beaver bones under lavender chickens?. This story is another fun episode of the madness found in Moonstone, Wisconsin. Lily and Marcus are fun characters and, while they seem to be trying to avoid a relationship, someone gets murdered and Lily must figure out what is going on and Marcus is more than willing to help. There are lots of funny and entertaining things happening all at once in Moonstone in this tale, and I really enjoyed it. Lily is also a friend of Kirsten that was one of the main characters of the second story from the Mischief in Moonstone Series. This is one of those series that the story incorporates characters from the earlier books, and you will want to find and read the other episodes!
"In the tale "Bloodstone Legacy" (The Saurian Series, Book 2) by Cassie Walder, Mina Dracosdautter is a Priestess of Light for her planet. This is such an interesting society. I'm intrigued by the imagination that went into creating this world and the problems of its people. I am looking forward to what happens next in the third book coming in Tales of the Treasure Trove, Volume IV.
"Scott Romero and Melina Rose's story picks up a month and a half after it left off in the first book in "Revenge in Amethyst" (Adventures in Amethyst Series, Story 2) by Karen Wiesner. We already know Melina and Scott love one another, now they just have to survive some rough times. I love that this is a continuation of the first story instead of switching characters. There was more I wanted to know about Melina and Scott the first time, and now we get the answers!
"In "Garnet Nights" (Troubled Waters Series, Book 3) by Liz Hunter, Sadie Carlisle's husband has cleaned out their bank accounts and every asset he could get his hands on and run off with his file clerk. Then Sam Barrington drops by to check on her. Sam and Sadie have been secretly attracted to one another for years but neither wanted an affair. Oh, I just loved Sam sweeping in and rescuing the damsel in distress. This story is really cute with just enough suspense to keep it interesting! I'm looking forward to reading what happens next in this series.
"I enjoy the variety of stories the Jewels of the Quill authors put into each of their anthologies, and I am looking forward to reading the next one they publish. TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV will be out soon (March 2008) and, if it continues in the tradition of the first three volumes, it will contain sequels to some of the stories in this collection as well as a new story or two." ~reviewed by Stephanie B. for Fallen Angel Reviews http://www.fallenangelreviews.com/2008/January/StephanieB-TalesFromTheTreasureTrove_VolumeIII.htm
5 flags! "This newest volume in the excellent series TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE from the authors of Jewels of the Quill meets the same high standards as the earlier two volumes. As always, romance is the key ingredient, but stirred into the mix are quantities of paranormal, thriller, suspense, humour, comedy, science fiction and futuristic, and Western historical. Again, just as with its predecessors, TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume III offers food for thought and every reading taste, and serves it up with pleasure and a sigh of satisfaction after each story." ~EuroReviews http://euroreviews.eu.funpic.de/bookdetails.php?book_id=911
4 1/2 stars! "Once again the talented Jewels of the Quill offer a collection of enchanting stories. All the authors give readers what they want--adventure, mystery, romance and a peek into the unknown--and they never fail to entertain." ~Donna M. Brown for Romantic Times BOOKreviews
"Another Treasure Trove of romance stories, from the Jewels of the Quill authors, to enjoy anytime! "The Turquoise Talisman" by author Jane Toombs is just one of the great stories in this Treasure Trove of romance. "The Tanzanite Curse" by C.J. Winters is a love stories that transcends time to leave tears in their eyes. Author Nancy Pirri brings back old world charm in the romance "Princess Sapphire." "Mrs. Clause and the Moonstone Murder" by Christine DeSmet is another wonderful Moonstone mystery. "Bloodstone Legacy" by Cassie Walder is a great fantasy to add to the anthology. "Revenge in Amethyst" by Karen Wiesner is an edge-of-the-seat read. "Garnet Nights" by Liz Hunter is a story to warm the heart. TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume III is another spellbinding romance anthology from the Jewels of the Quill authors!" ~reviewed by Dakota Wind for Rolling Seas Reviews http://www.rollingseas.com.au
4.25 stars! ""The Turquoise Talisman" by Jane Toombs: This story was the best out of all the works I've read by Ms. Toombs. It wrapped me up so completely in the plot that I just couldn't stop reading.
""The Tanzanite Curse" by C.J. Winters: This story sizzles to life. It touches mysteries we'll never understand.
""Princess Sapphire" by Nancy Pirri: I had a great time getting to know these characters. Ms. Pirri has the gift of writing short stories that give you the feeling you've read an entire novel. She can get all of the details novel readers crave into the shortened format. I have always enjoyed her stories.
""Mrs. Claus and the Moonstone Murder" by Christine DeSmet: It's another comedic foray into Moonstone. This town is filled with characters who are truly "characters" in every sense of the word. Ms. DeSmet has written another humorous slice of life story from Moonstone [see also "When Rudolph Was Kidnapped" in SMALL GIFTS, A Jewels of the Quill Christmas Anthology; and "Misbehavin' in Moonstone" in TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume II]. It's just a fun story with a crazy ending.
""Bloodstone Legacy" by Cassie Walder: For a second in a series book, Ms. Walder picks up the story ["Bloodstone Cure" in TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume I] in such a way that new readers won't feel bewildered. I enjoy the Saruian series with its complexities. It's hard to describe the intricacies of the story, but it is easy reading. The ending will leave you hanging (like me) and waiting for the next installment. I'm not always one for cliff hangers, but I really want to see what happens with Mina and Lucian.
""Garnet Nights" by Liz Hunter: I found Sam and Sadie's story to be a quick read. It moved along and, while it kept the romance as the main focus, I enjoyed the suspense portion of the plot.
""Revenge in Amethyst" by Karen Wiesner: I admit to some surprise at the tone of this story in the series. It was a darker, more serious tale than I was expecting. I think Ms. Wiesner did an excellent job of bringing the "thriller" portion of this romantic thriller to life. I have said before that Ms. Wiesner surprises me with the depth of her writing and this was no exception. I truly thought this would be more comedic than thriller-I was wrong, dead wrong. This story brings out even more personality and depth to Scott and Melina, as well as other characters. It also brings about a surprising look into the minds of psychotics-or at least one psychotic. The story builds layer after layer of suspense and concern. I stayed up extra late trying to finish the story before falling asleep. I was glad to get more of Scott and Melina's story this time. I felt like the first story ended before I was ready. This second story gave me that sense of completion. For those who haven't read the first story ["A Rose for Romeo" in TREASURES OF THE HEART, A Jewels of the Quill Valentine's Day Anthology], you'll catch on and catch up without any trouble-but I think this series begs to be read in its entirety. I did notice that the Adventures in Amethyst Series Collection will be released in September 2007. I look forward to more adventures from this quirky town." ~Robyn for Once Upon A Romance Review http://onceuponaromance.net/TreasureTroveIIIReview.htm
"A collection of seven tales, spanning several genre styles, that will surely tantalize your imagination to no end. If you read Vol. I and Vol. II, then you will be familiar with the series these stories come from. Yes, these are stand alone tales; however, ...you do not need to read the two previous anthology novels to thoroughly enjoy yourself. Sometimes "To Be Continued" is not so bad after all, IMHO. A delightful treat for a rainy afternoon." ~Huntress Reviews http://www.huntressreviews.com/especial.htm
"TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume III is jam-packed full of quite a few exciting stories that are sure to please any reader. Each story by these delightful authors comes to life on the pages leaving readers unable to set this book down." ~Tangela Williams for MyShelf.com http://www.myshelf.com/romance/07/talesfromthetreasuretrovevolume3.htm
"TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, VOLUME III is a collection of romance stories that is diverse and well written. The writers each have distinctive styles that tempt, tease, and excite the reader’s imagination. While a happy-ever-after is anticipated, each story takes twists and turns in the plot that makes the reader anxious for the “good guys”. For the reader who grew up with ‘genie-in the-bottle’ tales, The Turquoise Talisman” is a jewel of a story to be enjoyed again and again. “The Tanzanite Curse” brings the reader a ‘yummy’ lover who transcends time to be with the heroine, who does so need to experience true love. “Princess Sapphire”, set in Montana in 1880’s, brings the reader a historical romance full of the mores and charm of the time as the lovers find their way to each other. The mystery story “Mrs. Claus and the Moonstone Murder” has...[an] intriguing [main plot]. “Bloodstone Legacy” is a lovely fantasy with dragons and beasts with glowing eyes mixed in with the goodness in the light and the evil in the darkness that make the heart race. “Revenge in Amethyst” is a modern romance that’s invaded by evil. The demon-possessed enemy finds the heroine, making for some breathtaking fear and action. Lastly, “Garnet Nights” is a feel-good romance about a young mother who is a survivor. When it seems like life has defeated her on every turn, she finds true love. The collection of romance stories offers a variety of life styles and worlds but one constant can be found over the ages and in all the life styles—true love finds a way and humanity find physical, emotional, and spiritual joy in life." ~reviewed by Camellia for The Long and Short Of It Reviews http://longandshortreviews.blogspot.com/2008/02/review-tales-from-treasure-trove-vol.html

"In TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV, eight accomplished authors join forces and mix their diverse creative talents in an anthology that's sure to have at least one memorable story for those who enjoy the romance genre in its many varied forms. The anthology begins with "Woman Cast in Amber" by Janet Lane Walters, which loops the reader into its fairytale-like world. This particular story has the feel of setting up for something greater to come in its ongoing Amber Chronicles series, and from the enticing snippet "Woman Cast in Amber" offers, it'll be a series worth keeping an eye on for future installments. "The paranormal romance of "Turquoise Twilight", Book 3 in the North of Nonesuch Series by Jane Toombs follows next featuring Talissa Hunter embarking on a free vacation to Romania with hopes for excitement and adventure, and she gets just that when she saves handsome Englishman, Marcus Zugaric, from death in a mysterious fog. The charming and witty Talissa does make it a worthwhile read. "As in any anthology, some stories are stronger than others, and one of the strongest in this one is that of Karen Wiesner's "Blood of Amethyst", an engaging romantic horror that's a gruesome retelling of the fairytale Rumpelstiltskin where the evilness of the creature has long terrorized the people of the small town, Woodcutter's Grim. With its well written characters and vivid descriptive details, it's a story will chill the reader's spine while it's being read and haunt their mind well after it's been finished. "One of the shorter stories "Petals of a Topaz Jewel", a work of suspense by Carrie S. Masek, also delivers some of the strongest emotion. With its twist at the end, this is a story that when the last page is read, the reader wants to see more because Beth is a character who's that easy to like, that realistic, and that interesting. "In Nancy Pirri's historical romance, "Sapphire Dreams", the reader is taken back in time to Bozeman, Montana in 1881. With its period dialogue, historical details, and enjoyable characters, "Sapphire Dreams" is another of the strongest stories in the anthology, and as it states in the beginning that it's Book 1 in the Sapphire Palace Series, it seems that author Pirri will treat readers to more of her work soon. "One of the most unique tales is that of the science fiction/paranormal piece, "Saurian Bloodstone" by Cassie Walder, which is Book 3 of The Saurian Series. As it seems to be an ongoing series, "Saurian Bloodstone" does a fine job in setting up the culture of its alien world. It ends on a particularly interesting note that's sure to have readers looking for the next installment. "The paranormal romance "The Tanzanite Return" by C.J. Winters is a sequel to an earlier work titled, "The Tanzanite Curse". This one is an interesting story of Tabitha Beaufort, a radio talk show host, and her twin sister, Tanya. Fortunately, not being familiar with the first piece doesn't hinder the enjoyment of this one as it provides adequate back story and is really a work that can stand on its own. "The anthology rounds out with Book 1 of Christine DeSmet's Men of Moonstone Series, the romantic mystery, "The Moonstone Fire". "The Moonstone Fire" is also dubbed a humorous mystery, and while it does have its lighthearted moments, it also tackles issues that are very heartrending as John is a disabled veteran from Afghanistan, making it one of the more deeply emotional stories featured. "All in all, TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV does a wonderful job in showcasing an eclectic mix of fine authors and their works. In having so many different styles together, it allows readers who may not otherwise pick up a certain genre, to get a little taste of it and discover a new type of storytelling they may enjoy. For fans of romance, strong heroines and brave heroes, TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV has much to offer." ~reviewed by Shannon Frost for TCM Reviews http://tcm-ca.com/reviews/2035.html
4 stars! "Each of these authors, collectively known as the Jewels of the Quill, brings something unique and interesting to this anthology. It's an eclectic mix to suit every reader's taste--from paranormal romance to historical. " ~Barb Anderson for Romantic Times BOOKreviews
4 cups! "Woman Cast in Amber" by Janet Lane Walters: Mrs. Janet Lane Walters has written a tale of misguided love and hopefully redemption. I really enjoyed the example of love exhibited by Emme. "Turquoise Twilight" by Jane Toombs: Ms. Jane Toombs has written an exciting story of discovery and enlightenment. The surprises were many and varied making it a breeze to read. "Blood of Amethyst" by Karen Wiesner: Ms. Karen Wiesner writes a chilling yarn of patient, haunting evil, waiting to pounce. I could not anticipate the exciting ending. "Petals of a Topaz Jewel" by Carrie S. Masek: Ms. Carrie S. Masek has written an account of grief overcome and chances taken. I enjoyed the surprise twist. "Saurian Bloodstone" by Cassie Walder: Ms. Cassie Walder has created a beautiful tale of differences accepted and love discovered. I really enjoyed the interplay between Mina and Lucian. "The Tanzanite Return" by C.J. Winters: Ms. C.J. Winters has written a cautionary tale of crying wolf. I eagerly read to the unpredictable conclusion. "Moonstone Fire" by Christine DeSmet: Ms. Christine DeSmet has written a tale of redemption and the rebirth of hope as seen through a little boy's eyes. I really liked the curmudgeon and the debutante angle of this story. Jewels of the Quill have written a diverse selection of stories guaranteed to introduce each authors work to a new audience regardless of their preference. The characters were full of angst, quirks and a whole lot of humanity. I would suggest this anthology to any reader of fiction." ~Kathy for Coffee Time Romance http://www.coffeetimeromance.com
"This was a very interesting read on my part, as I wasn't sure how to write a review for such a long anthology. The main thread these stories had that united them was that jewels were somehow in the title, and someway worked into the story whether as a character's name or as an actual jewel in the story, which made it interesting to see where each story was going to head. ""Woman Cast in Amber" by Janet Lane Walters: This is one of the non-traditional romance stories, and does not have a truly discernible happily ever after, although we are set up to hear more of the story from a secondary character later on. We've all heard them, and some of us grew up hearing them. the classic "fairy tale". A tale that has been handed down from generation to generation. This was a story that is told as if from generation to generation, although nothing seems to have been lost in the translation. You'll find yourself rooting for Emme. ""Turquoise Twilight" by Jane Toombs: This is actually quite a fun story, even with the ominous presence of something evil lurking in the background. The circumstances Talissa finds herself in keep the story entertaining, without detracting from the seriously creepy vibe we occasionally get. ""Blood of Amethyst" by Karen Wiesner: What would happen if the Big Bad Wolf was real? What if the witch really did lure in Hansel and Gretel? That is the question that made this story so gripping. "Blood of Amethyst" was a very riveting, chilling tale of a supernatural, paranormal small town that hides a thin veil between the worlds of good and evil. Definitely kept me on the edge of my seat, but be prepared, this is not your traditional romance, and doesn't have your typical happily ever after. Even so, I couldn't stop turning the pages. ""Petals of a Topaz Jewel" by Carrie S. Masek: A fun short story that had a surprise twist at the end, this was not a love story, but still fun to read. Beth Collins was an interesting woman to meet, and it would have been nice to get to know her better. Sometimes, the thought of the possibility of more is a great way to be introduced to a previously unknown author. This one made me smile. ""Sapphire Dreams" by Nancy Pirri: Take a quick trip back to the Wild West and meet a Marshal on a mission to shut down every brothel he comes across and a woman hotelier just trying to run an honest business. The sparks fly when these two strong-willed people meet, and an interesting and sweet love story ensues. I got a sweet little thrill at the end of this one. ""Saurian Bloodstone" by Cassie Walder: I enjoyed this interesting, in-depth glimpse into a world of shape-shifting dragons. This story was a great love story continuation of a previous tale where we get to catch up with characters from before. We all have moments of, "I wonder what's happening with those characters." This short story gives us a bit of a catch up glimpse, and I find I would like to read the previous story, or stories, by this author since I loved meeting all of her characters. The world-building was incredible, and even the seemingly formal speech in the dialogue was easy to follow and seemed completely appropriate. I would love to read more by Cassie Walder. ""The Tanzanite Return" by C.J. Winters was an interesting story with a touch of the paranormal. ""The Moonstone Fire" by Christine DeSmet: This was actually a very sweet and humorous love story that left me smiling in the end. The fact that John is a bit "broken" just endears him further as we move along in this story. I adored the son's lisp and his easy acceptance of circumstances around him, which he relates in terms that are quite comical. The blooming love between John and Dolly is well done and in the end, brought a quick smile to my face. "TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV was an interesting group of tales that ranged from the extremely hair-raising to the sweetly heartwarming. Needless to say, there's something for everyone." ~reviewed by Viscaria for The Long and Short Of It Reviews http://longandshortreviews.blogspot.com

Masek for this magnificent tale of blind dates, sex, and murder. ""Sapphire Dreams" by Nancy Pirri is the fabulous fifth story in the anthology. An outstanding story by Nancy Pirri for those of us who love to read romantic old west stories. Marshal James Freeman is hilarious as he bumbles his way right into Kate's heart. Nancy Pirri pens an ending that delights us all when Marshal Freeman finally realizes he is wrong and Kate is the woman of his heart. ""Saurian Bloodstone" by Cassie Walder: The main characters are a fresh delight. Readers will appreciate these two delightful dragons. Cassie Walder does an excellent job of bringing her dragons to life and making the reader want to read more of The Saurian Series. ""The Tanzanite Return" by C.J. Winters: Psychic twins who each find a true love make C. J. Winters' tale one to remember. The cursed tanzanite adds a dramatic flair for those of us who love and wear tanzanite. Psychic twins out to save the area they live in from destruction makes an exciting, enjoyable read. ""The Moonstone Fire" by Christine DeSmet: Christine DeSmet creates a strong but flawed hero in John Hall that is appealing. While this is the last story in the treasure trove, it certainly is not the least. "The Moonstone Fire" is not only a romance but also a mystery. This story is a strong ending to a fantastic anthology. "Psychic twins, vampires, and heroes make up a delightful group of main characters all through this anthology. Many of these stories segue into the next story of the series it was originally in, which leaves the reader yearning for more. TALES FROM THE TREASURE TROVE, Volume IV is a must have anthology. Excellent stories penned by a talented group of writers. The Jewels never disappoint their faithful readers." ~Dawn Myers for Writers Unlimited http://www.writersunlimited.com
