Abate of Iowa Freedom Rally Kid Rock
The Midwest favorites Ginger Jake appeared at the House of Bricks with their CD release for their new EP "Distillery". They did 2 shows with local faves Mindrite. Odium and World Under (check out their newest tune "Poetic Arson") also b featured on the late bill. The early show will rock featuring the "familiar yet refreshing" sounds of “Divided We Stand” and Cirrus Minor. And speaking of Matt Biegger, along with Calous' Joey Corigliano, Cold Filters' Doug Root and Big D have combined to create "Pretty Noose" a rock-cover act. We are so psyched that they will be playing the House of Bricks on March 28tth and the Hull on May 22nd. The Double "D" street party The (515) Management Group's founder, Denny Harvey, announce that up and coming Midwest acts Junk Poet and DI-FI have joined the (515) Management roster. Both acts have been playing select Midwest gigs and look to continue to expand their fan base by blasting open the ears of those whom believe that only people in California create music worth listening to and thus hope to enlighten the musical world. DI-FI ‘s new EP, written, produced and engineered by Ed Anton is being pressed as we post. Junk Poet now is available on iTunes, and will play the House of Bricks April 25th, and Dizzy will be in town for the festivities. Destrophy will continue supporting National acts throughout the Midwest by playing on the “Music as a Weapon Tour” here in Des Moines @ Vets on May 9th. Destrophy joins Disturbed, Killswitch Engage, Lacuna Coil, and Bury Yer Dead in what should be a very interesting indoor festival style show that starts at 2pm. For more on Destrophy check them out in the LAZER 103.3 studio on March 29th with Suzy on Local Licks. Speaking of Studios - Des Moines favorites Roadshow (David Ellis, Bill King, Kelly Starret and the Skully Sound team ) continue to laydown tracks on there yet to be titled new CD project. Look to hear more originals from one of Des Moines longest running cover bands who are already booked to play Hawgstock, The Italian Festival, Clivefest and the Badride this summer in appearances around the state. Gimmick will start out the spring doing a few select gigs with new drummer Nate King look for them to rock with Havick and Kerosene (former members of Rearview) at Chad's Birday Bash April 25th at Sudsuckers. Complete with Guitar Raffle Chad's Birthday Bash should be a fun event for all. Gimmick will also be playing Clivefest, Urbandales Friday fest and a list of others as they ramp up to the busy summer schedule. Standing Damaged is no more - replaced by Seven Hells in a name change that will end any confusion in the line-up that includes Ronnie Richardson on guitar. Seven Hells has a full spring gig schedule ahead- for more information check their myspace. Iowa will have its own new version of Rock festival this year with “Rock Gone Wild “ featuring Locally, Summer events will include the yet to be announced lineup of this years July 3 and 4th Getting geared up for the Summer Rock Festival season just got Geared down a Notch for Hard Rock/Metal fans – NO Ozzfest …WTF ! Not to be forgotten - Aerosmith will kick off a Summer tour in in support of a new release. There will also be the Classic rock tours this Summer with the Def Leppard, Poison and Cheap Trick Tour and The REO Speedwagon, Styx, Journey Tour. Original members of Blind Faith, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood hit the road and Jeff Beck plays 13 dates in the states while the Allman Brothers do 16 in a row in New York at the Beacon Theatre. (whew)! The Dead Return do a nation wide tour and mixed. Big events include Bannaroo, Lalapolooza (Chicago), or east of the big pond Sweden Rocks. The Download festivals in Donnigton UK are always huge shows. And a new festival tour in Europe is “Sonispher”. It features Metallica – Lamb of God and many notable many others … could they play Des Moines too ? For a taste of Swedish Rock Opeth will play Omaha on May 8th. In a funny but - not so funny note Guitar World .Com has a special article on their homepage entitled“Slipknot Gear Tour” which states: “Watch this video gear tour featuring Jim Root and Mick Thomson in their native land of Idaho.” We have thought about purchasing the domain Stars4Idaho. com to avoid any confusion for our world wide audience, but we could not contact Mr. Potato Head to be our first victim. In closing Congrats to Randy Van Hosen's life-long friend and band-mate, Chris Messenger on his recent wedding. That's it for now,
