Merle Haggard Willie Nelson Poncho And Lefty Album Cover 1982
Poncho & Lefty
1982
Merle Haggard & Willie Nelson

Here's Merle's 2nd duet album. Willie Nelson makes up Hag's better half on this one.

"Poncho & Lefty" spawns the #1 Hit with the same name, but falls short of the success Merle had on "Yesterday's Wine" with George Jones.

The songs here have a not so subtle tone of depression with undertones of submission. Merle and Willie seem to grudgingly sing like their careers are over and it's time to hang it up!

"Pancho & Lefty", "Half A Man" and "No Reason To Quit" are true gems. The remaining 7 tracks have the look and feel of faux rhinestones.
