This is the 1st in a series of 5 albums The Strangers would release.

"Instrumental Sounds" is a very good listen all the way through and back again. Norman Hamlet's "Hammin' It Up" appears here for the first time. This song is still the intro for all of Merle's shows.

Merle's band would be the standard by which other bands would strive for in the future. The great Roy Nichols was the flare whilst Norman Hamlet was certainly the backbone.

Band members would soon change after this album's release. Jerry Ward (bass guitar) would be replaced by Dennis Hromek, and Eddie Burris (drums) would hand over the reigns to Biff Adam. Bobby Wayne (rhythm guitar) would be added soon as well.

Merle certainly had the finest pickers in the world...and it shows!

The opinions above are solely those of Sound_man73. If you're like me you'll collect the music either way :)
