Let's make sure history never forgets the name Enterprise!
There has never been a show quite like Star Trek. What started as a small, rather radical series has become a worldwide cultural icon, and for almost 40 years now, the adventures of the Starship Enterprise (as well as Deep Space Nine, Voyager and Archer's boat) have captured the imagination of millions of fans all over the world.
However, too often, Trek fans are seen as people who are out of touch with the real world and socially inept - well, you know the cliché as well as I do... and the various documentaries and books that are out now don't do much to change this image.
Which is why Star Trek: The Fan Phenomenon is different! It was originally written as my term paper
with the objective of finding out who Star Trek fans really are, and why Trek fascinates so many people.
I interviewed as many Trek fans as I could from all over the world, and the fans I met were not William Shatner's "Trekkies" in their basements needing a life, but amazingly generous, creative, clever and fun people.
So welcome to the world of Star Trek and its fans! Take a look around Star Trek: The Fan Phenomenon, and I hope you enjoy it!
Star Trek: The Fan Phenomenon needs YOU! A lot has happened in fandom since I first wrote the project in 2000, and it badly needs updating. Which means I'm looking for fans to talk to! If you'd like to contribute to one of the most in-depth look at fans on the net, why not go to my interview page 'You are Cordially invited...'. I'd love to hear from you!!
