"What a great idea! I love Halloween parties," Abby commented. "So where is it going to be?"

"I was thinking of the old Kimdal house."

"Why? That place looks anything but spooky."

"But since it is such a large size, it'd be great for the party. I promise we'll be able to make it look scary, Abby," Chris replied.

"Okay, you're right. I know they'd let us use it. Let's set it for Halloween night," Abby agreed. "Does 8:00 sound okay with you?"

"Yes. This party is going to be great. I'll talk to you later."

"Megan! I love your costume," Abby exclaimed when her friend entered the house.

"Thanks. The house looks great, by the way."

"Hey, she doesn't go to our school does she?"

Megan looked over her shoulder to see who her friend was talking about. She spotted an unfamiliar face wearing a dusty, white dress. "Um, no. I wonder who it could be."

"Well this party is for Belpoint students only. I'll be right back," Abby said, angry that someone would try to sneak in. When she finally got through the crowd to where the girl had been standing, she was no longer there. Abby spun around trying to find the girl, but she had no luck.

"Hey what's the matter?"

Abby looked to see Chris approaching her with a worried look on his face. "I just saw someone over here that wasn't from our school, but she's not here anymore," she said.

"Don't worry about it. It was probably just a trick or treater. Just try to have fun tonight, okay?"

Abby sighed. "Yeah you're probably right."

"Can't the DJ play something else? A slow song for instance?" Megan whispered.

Abby laughed. She knew Megan wanted to be close to Justin, but she couldn't disagree. They had been dancing hard all night. "I'll go see if I can get one playing." She started walking over to him, but of course someone called out her name before she could make it. Knowing it'd be rude to ignore them, she turned around and was greeted by Ms Belpoint, the woman who was kind enough to let them use the house for the party.

"Hi Ms Belpoint," Abby said, trying her best to sound polite.

"I noticed a light on upstairs, so I was just going to go check it out. I'll be back in a few minutes."

"Um okay. I think a few of the chaperones are still here, so everything will be fine." Ms Belpoint really had been a big help with the party. As if just letting us use her house wasn't enough. She bought over half of the decorations and helped serve the refreshments to the guests. But really, they could handle it for the five minutes she would be gone. Maybe she was a bit freaked about tons of kids being in her house.

After Ms Belpoint had walked off, Abby went over to the music table. "Hey I'd like to request a song," she said to the DJ who was dancing to the music. "Sure, babe. What would ya like?"

"Well actually, can we here a slower song?"

"Gotcha."

Abby thanked him, and jogged away. She wanted to find Chris before the song so they could couple up.

Unfortunately she couldn't, so she walked over to where a group of her friends were standing. "Hey guys, have you seen Chris?"

A few of them looked away at that question. Were they just jealous or did she really talk about them all the time? Well whatever.. either way she wanted to know.

"Hey Abby. Um I think I saw Chris heading up the stairs with Victoria a little while ago," her friend Ben told her.

Abby barely kept herself from screaming. Victoria?! She knew she shouldn't feel jealous and she wasn't; Chris definitely didn't like Victoria. But who wouldn't be mad? Victoria was always flirting with someone, and it just had to be Chris tonight. "That figures. When isn't Victoria with a guy?" Abby commented, trying to hide her anger. Her friends laughed at that, and she felt herself relax. She wasn't going to let this upset her, but she was planning to have a little conversation with Chris later.

"Abby, I'm sorry to interrupt, but I was wondering if you had seen Ms Belpoint. We can't find her anywhere, and we're almost out of punch. Well atleast that's how much was left 5 minutes ago. Oh, I just don't know! She's the only one with the recipe," Ms Gordon, one of the most talkative women Abby had ever met, exclaimed.

"No, sorry. I haven't seen her for a while now. Actually the last time I saw her she was heading upstairs to check on everything." Abby replied. She looked back at her friends who were clearly amused that someone could get so worked up over punch.

"Perhaps there's a problem," Ms Gordon said nervously. "I will go check and see." She then scurried off, heading for the stairs.

"Geez, what a drama queen," Michelle said.

"No really. Ms Belpoint has been up there for a really long time now," Abby said, now getting worried herself. She didn't mention that Victoria and Chris were also still upstairs, but she couldn't help wondering what was going on.

"Benjamin? Abby? May I please speak with you for a moment?" asked Mr. Sullivan, walking up to where both of them were standing. Without waiting for a reply, he continued, "Do either of you know where Ms Belpoint is? The kitchen is locked, and we can't get in without the key."

"She's still not back yet? She went upstairs about 30 minutes ago. Ms Gordon needed the recipe for the punch, so she went up as well," Abby said.

"Yes, I knew Ms Gordon had gone looking for her, but I had no idea she wasn't back yet either," Mr. Sullivan said, sounding really worried. "I probably should go check things out, but is there anything I could do before I head up there?"

Even Mr. Sullivan sounded scared. Should he really have to go up there if he didn't want to? But before she could say anything, Benjamin said no, that they had everything covered and Mr. Sullivan headed to the staircase.

"Maybe we shouldn't have let him go. Someone might be up there.."

"Of course someone's up there. Ms. Belpoint, Victoria, Chr-"

"That is not what I am talking about. Someone could be upstairs killing them!" Abby exclaimed, who was now about to cry.

"Killing them? Geez Abby! They're probably just playing a joke on us," Benjamin said.

"Yeah well.. The party is almost over. What if they don’t show up before then?"

"Hey isn’t that the girl you were talking about?" Ben asked, gesturing to the foyer.

Abby looked over to where Ben was pointing. "Yes. Oh my God! I bet she knows where everyone is Ben!"

"Um Abby?" Ben began. "What do you think Ms Gordon’s daughter would be doing with Ms Kimdal?" Ben asked, unable to control his laughter.

Abby looked over to the foyer and realized that Ben was right. Halloween was definitely making her paranoid. Now both of them were unable to control their laughter. Just then they saw that Ms Gordon’s daughter was heading over to them.

"Excuse me. Have you seen my mommy?" asked the little girl.

"Hi Kelsey. Yes, she’s upstairs," Ben answered.

"But I want to go home. Please help me find her," Kelsey whined.

"Well actually.." Abby began.

"Yeah, we’ll help you look for her," Ben interrupted.

Ben took Kelsey’s dirty hand and started leading her away. When he noticed that Abby wasn’t walking with them, he turned around and gestured for her to come with them.

Despite her worries, Abby caught up with them and they started making their way up the stairs.

They had taken a total of 3 steps when Abby heard her name again. She sighed; maybe the idea of a Halloween party wasn’t so good after all. She turned slowly around, but thankfully it was Megan. "Are you going upstairs?" she asked. "Everyone is worried about what’s been going on tonight," she added quietly so Kelsey wouldn’t hear.

Clearly her and Ben weren’t the only ones that heard about the disappearances. "Yeah Kelsey wanted us to help find her mom. Would you like to come with us?"

"Yeah. I am so sick of hearing everyone’s predictions about what’s going on," Megan continued softly.

They then started walking up there again, more quickly than before so they wouldn’t get stopped again.

* * * * *

"Ms Gordon?" Megan called out once they entered the hall at the top of the stairs.

There was no reply, but they thought they heard mumbling in the distance. They continued slowly down the hall, peering in every room. But they saw nothing. They decided to keep looking, so they turned left onto another shorter hall. The first few rooms didn’t show any criminal act, but as they drew to the end of the hall, Megan let out a scream. She had walked a little further than the rest, and she obviously had seen something bad. Looking in the room, they saw Victoria and Ms Kimdal, about 10 feet away from each other. They were poised in a very uncomfortable position and seemed to be in shock and bleeding pretty badly. All four of them were screaming now, and as they were making their way out of the room, they heard a moaning coming a few doors down. Scared to even see what else had happened, they began running the way they had come from.

"Look!" Kelsey suddenly cried out. They looked up to see Mr. Sullivan stalking the hall, with bulging eyes and his tongue hanging out of his mouth. He was also just as bloody as the other victims, which the kids unsuccessfully tried to ignore. Their screams became louder and as they ran down the stairs, everyone looked their way. It didn’t take them long to realize what had caused such a reaction from them because Mr. Sullivan wasn’t far behind them. The student’s screams echoed across the house, causing the chandelier above to shake vigorously. Followed by Mr. Sullivan came Ms Gordon. Then every few seconds someone else would appear. Chris, Ms Kimdal, Victoria.. all with the same freaky appearance. They headed in different directions, terrorizing everyone with their penetrating glare.

Abby watched as Chris made his way over to the empty music table, where he lifted the microphone and in a quiet ghostly voice said "boo". This caused even more screams from the Belpoint High students. The "murdered" victims, however, now began to laugh. Harder and harder.. The screams died down, and they looked around at one another, completely confused.

Abby looked up at Ms Gordon, who was standing in front of her. "Huh?"

Victoria then walked up to where their group was standing. "What’s the matter, Abby? Ghost got your tongue?" she asked before starting to laugh again.

Thankfully for Victoria, Chris walked up then. "You know, Abby.. I think you’re right. This place definitely wasn’t scary enough. Just wanted to make sure that you had a nice Halloween."

"I guess mine was, but what’s up with you and Victoria being the selected ones?"

"I figured that that detail would distract you, but I promise nothing happened."

"I was in it all along and you never knew it," Kelsey bragged.

After a few minutes everyone began to return to their conversations, still a little surprised by the night’s activities. Just then a slow song came on and Abby and Chris made their way to the dance floor.
