Orlando Bloom was born on January 13, 1977 in Canterbury, England. His inspiration for acting came in grade school when his then girlfriend told him that she adored a famous television actor. This drove Orlando into acting, and he became very serious about it in his late teens, attending acting school and participating in various Shakespearian plays. Now, he's the one being adored. After his dramatic public debut in The Lord of the Rings, a huge blockbuster and nominee for Best Picture at the Oscars, he has become no doubt a "heartthrob" for millions of teenage girls, as Newsweek's writer Katherine Stroup puts it. He has also made Teen People's "Top 25 Hotties Under 25" list as well as YM's "20 Hottest Guys." Other movies he has appeared in are Wilde (in which he plays a rent boy) the documentary-style war movie, Blackhawk Down (he plays an 18 year old Marine who falls out of a helicopter early on, causing the entire mission to collapse), and Pirates of the Caribbean, where he plays the lead hero. He has also starred in the 2004 movies Ned Kelly with Heath Ledger and the epic motion picture Troy, where he splits the screen with fellow hotness Brad Pitt. It won't be long before he reveals his debut as the sole lead actor on May 6th in Kingdom of Heaven, yet another epic, directed by Ridley Scott, who also directed Gladiator.
As far as his personal life, he recently broke up with Kate Bosworth, whom he had been dating seriously for over 3 years.
