Ting Yau Kin (Felix Wong) and Ting Yau Hong (Deric Wan) are brothers. Their mother (Yammie Lam) was accused of a murder she never committed and later was hanged to death. Her friend took care of her children and treated them just like her own children. She also adopted a girl and a boy and raised all four children by herself. Kin is not as smart as Hong but he is nice to people. Lee Wah (Kathy Chow) and Kin are cousins. She came to Hong Kong for college and moved in with her cousins. Kin likes her but she didn't accept his love at first because she had a huge crush on Hong. But her feelings for Hong were one-sided; Hong only made use of her to run errands for him. Later she got over Hong and accepted Kin, but their relationship didn't last long. She broke up with him after she graduates from college and starts her career. Yee Tok Kwan (Carina Lau) is from a rich family, she lives leisurely and doesn't work at all. She became good friends with Kin. After she met Kin, he influenced her to change her lifestyle. She moved out from her family and became a journalist. After gaining her independence and self-esteem, Kwan became happier and began to have feelings for Kin.
Kin gets out from jail and starts a new relationship with Kwan. Due to an airplane accident, Wah found out how much she actually loves Kin. She wants to get back together with him but it was too late because Kin only loves Kwan now and they will get married soon. Wah commits suicide on their wedding day… |
Hong is a very smart young man but he is not kind hearted like his brother. He wishes to live a rich lifestyle and will do whatever it takes to get what he wants. He likes Chiu Ka Man (Maggie Siu), a girl he met from university although she already has a steady boyfriend. Hong created many misunderstandings between them to break them up so he could have Ka Man for himself. Ka Man did love Hong wholeheartedly later. Hong really loves Ka Man but he loves himself and money more than anything else; he tries to court Ma Mei Yun (Seung Tin Ngor), a rich woman, even though he didn't love her at all. He wanted to break up with Ka Man but she was already pregnant with his baby. But he chooses money instead of love. They went to Malaysia together and he pushed her off from a running train. Ka Man's body was never found but everyone assumes she was dead. Hong went back to Hong Kong and marries Yun. He accidentally killed Kwan's brother and Kin found out about it. Hong pleads for Kin to help him and Kin, being the protective elder brother, admits to the crime and went to jail for his brother. Despite Kin's sacrifice for him, Hong's character didn't change for the better, instead he only got more devious...

Special thanks to Daryl for the pictures! Written by Kuji and Daryl. This series is one of my favorite TVB series and the plot is well written. The plot focuses a lot on brotherhood but the relationships are very interesting too. "LBIA" was the most watched TVB series ever made, which was announced on TVB's 24th anniversary. I also like the songs from this series. Danny Chan and Wong Kit are great singers. Still think this series has the best theme songs for modern series. This series helps Maggie a lot in her acting career because if she wasn't in the series, she might not be in "BOGAE." * These are only based on my opinion, not on real rating for the series! The more stars mean the better. Five stars are the maximum! |
