Almost 30 years of showbiz is sometimes hard in some ways. Janet has had to ask herself in all those years where she did it all for. The first ten years of her career she did it for her demanding father Joseph who claimed she couldn't sing and thought of an actress role for her, the second ten years to prove she COULD make it as a singer. Even better then her brother. But when the album Janet. hit the billboard charts, meanwhile Michael had his hands full with the Jordi Chandler scandal, she felt worse then ever. "I didn't think I was worth much. I couldn't take the credit for the work I did, because I felt I didn't deserve it. That feeling was very deep and it had everything to do with beeing a Jackson. And not being me" she whispers softly.

The Velvet rope was her therapy record where she sang off her past and loosened herself from the name Jackson. In name of herself here is All for you, an typical Janet Jackson album wich is marked by her longtime producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as "carefree". Compared to the Velvet Rope, All For You a light dessert in which Janet sings about her friends, better days and remarkably lots about love and a high flirtlevel.

"I sing about whats going on in my life. Sex is a important part of it", says Janet who's begun a second youth after her divorce of Rene Elizondo in 1999. Or not? "Well, it feels like that a little", she giggles. At the single All for you she gives a potential lover instructions wich is the best move. Question... Some lines then.

Men don't understand women.

"pff, I wouldn't know", she sighs, "I'm not very good at that." Awkward. After a broken marriage with James Debarge and 13 years of support and trust with Rene, you think she should know where it goes wrong.

"Men don't understand women all the time, but more often they pretend they do. Women communicate better then men, thats a fact. What did I had to explain to Rene a thousand times? I don't rather talk about my personal relationship with Rene. Something I definately don't understand about men is that they sit so long at the toilet with a newspaper. What do they do in there? Why so long? It seems like a sort of "nestdrang" (simile; a young animals who want to be close to its parents} she giggles like only girls among each other can do. She takes another zip of the grapefruit juice. The next question can come.

A human is never 100% hetero or 100% homo

"Bullshit. I think there are men who never fall in love with another man. It's an issue of attraction. Some people are bisexual and do something with it. Others don't."

Have you ever felt attracted to the other sex?

The diva needs to think for a while.."Yes", she says eventually. "when i was little, about 11 or 12 years old, there was a girl at my school that was facinating to me. It felt kinda strange. I thought she was very beautiful, but I've never approched her. Still I believe this is just something thats a part of growing up."

The rumour goes that Janet Jackson has had a relationship with one of her female dancers.

"Not true", says Janet. "I'm very close with my people, but not in that way. I'm very open about the fact that everyone should be who they are though. Sometimes you meet someone where you feel attracted to, but where you have a feeling from your ways have crossed before in another life. That's more a feeling of recognition who's spirtitual more than sexual."

If you die, your soul lives on in the next life.

"True. I think were not done yet with this life. Some people you meet again in this life or the next. China love is all about that", she whispers so softly it sounds like Michael is talking.

Did you ever go to a professional session?

"Yes. A man told me that I was the daughter of a Chineze emperor who fell in love with a warrior. They wanted to be together but the daughter had to marry with someone of royal blood. I would meet this warrior in this or the next life." And? "I haven't seen him. I sometimes wonder where he is, or what he does. If it's Rene? I hope not! Not to be mean, but what I've had with him its finished and over now."

Some reincarnation theories say you pick your own family. What do you think?

Janet moves her head slowly shaking no. And yet, if she had to choose between the Jacksons or more something like the Cosby type of family, she would choose the first. "Because I've learned a lot of them, and I love them. If I speak to my brother on the phone just for fun? No, if I want to know how everyone's doing, I ask my mother."

Maybe journalists overreact sometimes when they write someone's face changes by the thought of dark, sad and painful thoughts. At Janet that's not said too much.

How difficult is it to speak constantly about your past regarding the Velvet rope album?

> "There were days it went just fine and sometimes i couldn't speak about it at all. It was a very emotional time for me. Conversations often brought me back directly to the past."

The story of your life goes around the world. HOw does that feel?

Janet is quiet for a while. "Sometimes it's hard, but I've nothing to hide. Besides that I don't tell everything. I do speak about my feelings, but the details are for me only."

Lying is not appropriate.

"If its appropriate or not, sometimes you just do it. Its your own choice to do that."

Whats the last small lie you've told?

"I don't believe in big or small lies. Lies are lies. God knows I've lied. Against myself for example, when 10 years ago I was acting a lot tougher than i actually was."

Okay, lets say honest: Which is better, Burger King or MacDonalds?

"MacDonalds!"

You're kidding!

"No, really. But the American mac tastes better than the European. The kids get some sometimes, so thats how i know."

How long ago since you had a hamburger?

"I have no clue. Very long ago."

Something you have to catch up with in a next lifetime?

"Maybe", she smiles.

But for now she isn't finished yet with what's going on now.
