  • Dotmusic - April 10 2000!

It's been four years since she was last 'on the scene', but this week signals the return of Janet Jackson, with her new single 'All For You'.

Our roving reporter caught-up with Janet recently, as she prepared to unleash her first new material since last album 'Velvet Rope'. Janet is not only sister to the none-more famous 'King of Pop' Michael but is also one of the most successful female artists of all time. The new record - also titled 'All For You' - is set to follow the triumphant commercial landslides of the likes of 'Control' and 'Rhythm Nation 1813' and is out on April 24. Janet was eager to tell us about her return and the motivation behind the spectacular video which accompanies the single. We also got the lowdown on the chances of her recording with Michael again, following 1995's smash hit single collaboration 'Scream' There is also a rare insight into the upbringing of the Jackson family, which spawned the Jackson 5, numerous solo pop careers and a endless stream of controversy and intrigue.

Janet explains: "I've been working since I was seven so my best friends were truly my brothers and sisters, I had a few friends outside of that. Just a few. "I remember spending the night only once at a friends house, only had a slumber party once. We didn't grow up having birthdays or celebrating Christmas or Halloween because of religion. "My mother was a Jehovahs witness, so we really had a different childhood growing up and we worked like crazy but that was the norm for us", Janet explains.
