  • Jackie Biography!

Sigmund Esco Jackson, known as Jackie, was born on May 4 1951 on his mother Katherine's 21st birthday. Jackie grew up with his siblings, Rebbie, Tito, Jermaine, Latoya, Marlon, Michael, Randy and Janet in Gary, Indiana. In the mid-60s, Jackie and his brothers with the exception of Randy, who was too young, formed the Jackson 5. The Jackson 5 released two singles on Steeltown records before signing with Motown in 1969. The fenomenal success of the Jackson 5 prompted Motown to let Michael, Jermaine and Jackie release solo albums in between group projects. Jackie's first album entitled Jackie Jackson dropped in 1973. It looked promising, but did not do as well as expected. Jackie decided to focus on the group instead.

In the early 70s, Jackie married his girlfriend Enid Spann. The two divorced in 1986 when Enid found out that Jackie had been having an affair with LA Laker girl and choreographer Paula Abdul. Enid and Jackie have two children, Siggy (born in 1978) and Brandi (born in 1981). Enid passed away in 1994 from a brain tumeur. Jackie has not remarried.

In 1975, the Jackson 5 moved to CBS Epic records and had continued success with albums like Destiny and Triumph. Jackie did not released his second album until 1989. The album entitled Be The One did a little bit better than his last, thanks to singles like Stay and Cruzin. The title song was released as a single and also appeared on the soundtrack to the comedy My Stepmother Is An Alien. Nevertheless, Jackie remained a part of the Jacksons until the split and has since then not released any music.

Currently Jackie is working on the new Jackson 5 reunion album, and he will participate in the celebration concerts in Madison Square Garden in September in honor of his brother Michael.
