Internet

The Internet, or simply the Net, is the publicly accessible worldwide system of interconnected computer networks that transmit data by packet switching using a standardized Internet Protocol (IP) and many other protocols. It is made up of thousands of smaller commercial, academic, domestic and government networks. It carries various information and services, such as electronic mail, online chat and the interlinked web pages and other documents of the World Wide Web.

One way we used the Internet in the Library...
In 1998 a math class was in my library doing a cooperative learning lesson on fractions and percentages using M & M packages. The students wanted to know why the packages were not uniform in quantity. Cybrary Man immediately had the students email M&M/Mars. That same day they got the following answer with the average mix of colors in percentages: “Because of the difference in the sizes of the individual candy, the number of pieces per package varies. However, the package should be the indicated weight.”
