Chapter 9
Dreams and Nightmares
"Akina, look out!"
"I won't leave you!!"
A sudden slash of a blade, blood everywhere...
"NO!!!!"
Akina feel out of her bed, thrashing and screaming. A loud thunder clap woke her out of her dream. Taskin had heard her and came running into her room, standing in the door way with a tear in his eye. He crossed the room and sat next to Akina.
"You loved him didn't you?"
"Yes, he was my world...he taught me how to fight."
With a look of disappointment, Taskin closed his eyes and stood up, starting to walk away. Akina looked up at him and light whispered
"I need you...please don't leave..."
Slowly he turned around and saw the tears in her eyes, and her trying her best to hold them back. He came back and sat there, holding her, rocking her back and forth...till she fell asleep again.
"Akina! Taskin!!! Time to get up!!"
Nikki was screaming through the house, she couldn't find them anywhere. Finally she gave up and dug into the feast she had made. When she was done cleaning up, she heard some noises out side, and decided to investigate. Taking her sword, and knowing she could never use it, she went to see what was going on. Behind the barn, Taskin was throwing knives at Akina, her trying to dodge them. Flipping and doing cartwheels in the process. She came to a puddle and slipped, Taskin stopped throwing and ran to help her up. Nikki just watched, and smiled. They were laughing and playing around like when they were children. She smiled at that thought, remembering when she would have watched them, always tearing them apart. She laughed lightly and saw Akina's ears perk at the sound. Knowing she was heard she came into sight.
"So I see you two haven't lost anytime getting back to normal." She smiles sweetly and went to hug them. Akina couldn't help but smile, she loved Nikki like her own sister, but as the started to smile, she heard a noise in a tree and looked up. Taskin heard it too, throwing a knife up to the tree, a figure jumped and danced to avoid the attack. And just as suddenly as they appeared, they were gone.
