Chapter 6
The Storm
Trees rushing past her, all a blur in her eyes. Tears mix with blood as branches whip her face and cut her. Running, again away from a problem...'Why can't I be like Dareo? Why must I always run and never stay?' she thought as she kept going. Only thinking of running, not looking back, he might be gaining on her...finally overwhelmed by her tears and the strain on her tired legs, she collapsed to the ground. Crying, trying to brush away the blood from getting into her eyes, she finally gave up and curled into a little ball rocking back and forth. The forest was so dark...she had run so far...now lost and afraid, and alone...she let the darkness in...
"Take me into your hands night, let me be in the dark forever. Then I will be happy...forever alone..."
Shivering, she started to fall asleep, she was so out of it, her hearing was gone. For she didn't even her Taskin walk up and lay with her. His arms enfolded her body easily. His warm body pressed right to hers in an embrace of love. She turned over, pressing her face into his chest. Her cries, now muffled, seemed to diminish with ever second he held her.
"Shhh, please don't cry...I can't be happy when you're so sad...I can't live with your grief."
"Taskin...I..."
She looked at his eyes; ready to cry too, he was trying to be strong. Before she could finish her sentence, he held her face in his hand. Then he licked away her tears and kissed. Akina's body went limp, she didn't want to leave his embrace. He broke the kiss to look at her face again, beautiful pale ivory skin...stained with her own blood. He ripped off a part of his shirt and tried to get the blood off her face.
"Taskin...?"
"Yes?"
"Where did you hear that song?"
"I wrote it for you, when I first met Dareo...he came to my village...he said he knew you, and I wanted him to deliver it to you..."
"But he said he wrote it..."
"I wrote it...for you...no. For us, and what we should of had."
Akina was shocked, she couldn't respond. Taskin saw this and just rubbed his hand down her back. She relaxed and fell into his gaze again, as he lightly kissed her forehead.
