MOTORSPORT HISTORY

1995
Began Short Circuit Motor Racing in the Junior Class on dirt circuits at the age of 14. Negotiated a deal to buy a Mini Leyland body shell for a carton of beer. With the assistance of her family a standard 1100cc engine was fitted and Rebecca began racing one week after learning to drive. Her best result was 3rd in both heats during Round 4 at Warwick.

1996
Raced to her first win in Round 2 at Millmerran Reserve Raceway (dirt track).Destroyed her mini after rolling a spectatular 3 times at the Queensland Dirt Track Motor Racing Championships at Echo Valley Raceway, Toowoomba (see DRT archive for pic) after winning previous race. Rebuilt a new Mini with the help of family, friends and other competitors for a race meeting the following week. Won the WDSCC Junior Championship and MostConsistent Driver award.

1997
Finished 2nd in the Junior Series. Rebecca took 7 race wins, six 2nd places and five3rd places during the series.Joined WIMSA, Women in Motor Sport Association. Rebecca was nominated for the Australian Young Achievers of the Year Awards - Sports category- by Cristine Ferrucci Jones, WIMSA president. Participated in the Formula Vee driver training school at Lakeside International Raceway.

1998
This year Rebecca was old enough to compete in the open classes. Racing a 1200cc Honda Civic in the Production Class (identical to her brothers) she finished 5th in the sprint series and 3rd in the endurance series. Rebecca took her first race win after a long battle with her brother the defending Production champion in round 5.Rebecca attended the Mercedes-Benz Performance Driving School at Norwell.

1999
Due to financial constraints Rebecca missed 6 of the 13 rounds. 1 race win, three 2nd places and eight 3rd places.

2000
Raced 1 round at willowbank in the Queensland Gemini Series. She finished 8/16 in the feature race.

2001
Results for this year are as follows.... 2nd in the S/E QLD Sprint Series and 1st in the S/E QLD Endurance Series, WDSCC Production Champion.
