The Coral Springs Police
Explorer Post 276 was formed in 1983. It is chartered by Learning
For Life and the Coral Springs Police Department.
The purpose of the Explorer program is to educate and involve youth in their prospective careers. The program is also made for those interested in community involvement. There are many different Explorer programs, Police, Fire, and, Medical just to name a few. All Exploring programs can be viewd at: www.Learning-For-Life.Org
Police Explorers are trained in the following:
- Radio Communications
- Officer Safety
- Fire Arms Safety
- First Aid and CPR
- Traffic Control
- Radar Operations
- Domestic Violence
- Juvenile Disturbances
- Traffic Stops
- Handcuffing Techniques
- Arrest and seizure
- Florida State Statutes
- And more!
Some of the activities that they participate in are:
- Parking, Traffic, and Crowd
Control
- Security Details
- Help non-profit organizations
such as MADD, and the Boy Scouts
After Receiving the proper training and service hours Explorers can ride with Police Officers during thier shifts
Qualifications for exploring:
- Between the age of 14-21
- Completed the 8th grade
- GPA of 2.0 or above
- Pass backround investigation
- Pass an oral review board
