From your head to your toes/You're not much, goodness knows/But you're so precious to me/Sweet as can be, baby of mine
~*Amanda's Point Of View*~
.::5 months later::.
I was sitting in the guestroom, which had been turned into a nursery holding a one month old Aurora Rose Angel. If she couldn't have a daddy she could at least have his last name.
I hadn't talked to the guys since they had left 5 months ago. Well, not much anyways. I talked to Jacob and Erik some but I hadn't spoken to the other three.
Erik told me that Ashley had started dating again. I was glad that at least one of us was moving on.
Stephanie and Orlando, sorry Andy, were getting married in two weeks, he proposed the day of their two-year anniversary, which happened to be the day after the guys left. She hadn't been around nearly as much because she had been busy planning the wedding. Nevertheless, her and Andy where there when Aurora decided to come into the world a month early.
Aurora had to stay in the hospital for a week before she weighed enough to be released. Now, though, she was very healthy. I don't think that I'll ever forget what the nurse said to the other nurse when she brought Aurora to me the day after her birth. 'Kids these days. When are they going to learn? That child isn't going to grow up right. It's a shame really. They should've been more careful'
I don't care what anyone says or thinks. I love Aurora with all of my heart and I would do anything for her.
I heard the doorbell ring downstairs. Sighing to myself I stood up and carefully placed Aurora in her crib. I walked out of her room and down the stairs.
I unlocked the door, expecting it to be Stephanie and Andy. They were supposed to come over tonight to have pizza and watch a few movies. However, I was extremely surprised to find five people standing nervously at my door.
"Ashley? Jacob? Erik? What are you guys doing here?"
"Uh surprise?" Trevor said with a nervous smile. A smile appeared on my own face as I moved aside to let the guys into the house.
"Shouldn't you be a lot more pregnant?" Dan asked as he walked through the door.
"Yes, but I'm not pregnant anymore."
"You didn't... You didn't miscarry did you?" Ashley asked with a fearful look in his eyes.
"Oh, no." I said with a hint of laughter in my voice. " Aurora decided to grace us with her presence a month before she was due." I said with a smile on my face.
"It was a girl?" He asked with a bit of a stupid grin on his face. I nodded.
" Yeah. I named her Aurora Rose Angel."
" You gave her the name I picked?" I nodded and looked away. A bit embarrassed that he had remembered.
"Well, for those of us who don't know what you're talking about, would you care to explain?" Trevor asked as he sat down on the couch. The rest of the guys followed suit, Ashley and myself taking the armchairs adjacent to the couch.
"When we were younger, like in 9th grade I think, we took Life Management skills. Well, as apart of that you and a partner were parents to a bag of flour. We named our 'baby' Aurora Rose Angel. That was the name that Ashley had picked and I had always really liked it, so that's what I decided to name the baby." The guys nodded and turned towards the door when there was a knock.
"That's probably Steph and Andy." I said getting up from my spot on the chair.
"Hey guys." I said opening the door. The smiled and walked through the front door, movies in hand.
"Hey guys?" Stephanie half said half asked after seeing the guys in the living room.
"Hey." The replied at the same time.
"I'm gonna go order pizza I'll be back in a bit." I said excusing myself.
~*Stephanie's Point Of View*~
"I can't believe that I was ever stupid enough to let her go." Ashley said once Amanda had left the room.
"I can't either." I said, taking Amanda's spot in the armchair opposite of Ashley's. Andy sat on the floor at my feet.
"Please don't Steph. Not tonight. Please not tonight." He said in a begging tone. I sighed but knew better than to get into another argument with him about it.
"How'd the rest of your tour go?" Andy asked in his sexy British accent.
"It went really well. All of the shows sold out. We had a lot of fun." Dan replied for all of them.
"Have you seen Aurora yet?" Ashley shook his head no.
"No, I haven't, but I'm dying to." I nodded and put my hand on Andy's shoulder.
Amanda came back from the kitchen a few moments later.
"Hey, where am I supposed to sit?" she asked jokingly.
"Well, you abandoned the chair and it needed a new home so." She laughed and was just about to sit down in front of the coffee table when a baby's cry was heard. She sighed and excused herself.
Aurora was beginning to wear Amanda thin. She hadn't slept, I mean really slept in god knows how long, not to mention she now had no time to go to school. Amanda had to drop out just so that she could keep her job. Andy and I had offered to help watch Aurora during the day so that Amanda could work and pay all of her bills. It was really sad. Manda only had to finish one more year and then she would have been done.
~*Ashley's Point Of View*~
I saw Amanda go upstairs and decided to follow her. She had gone into what used to be the guestroom. I walked over to the door, careful not to disturb her.
She was sitting in a wooden rocker, which had been painted white near a wooden crib, which had also been painted white. The room was painted a light lavender on two walls and a darker shade of lavender on the other two walls. The carpet was done in four sections alternating between light lavender and dark lavender to match the walls. There was a changing table and a small dresser on the opposing wall to the crib. The rocker was near the window, which had a window seat.
Amanda began singing a lullaby that I didn't recognize.
Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
e
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Sweet as can be, baby of mine
I felt tears brim my eyes at the song. I smiled to myself and walked into the room.
"That was beautiful. I've never heard it before."
"Oh, gosh, you startled me. I didn't even realize that you were in the room. The song is from 'Dumbo'. I've just always thought that that was the sweetest lullaby. It made me cry the first time that I watched 'Dumbo'."
"Wow."
"What?"
"She's beautiful Amanda." I said now on the verge of tears.
"I can't believe that we created that." I said kneeling down beside the rocking chair.
"I've had a month to get used to it and I still can't believe it." She said with a bit of a chuckle.
"Do you want to hold her?" She asked.
"Can I?"
"Of course." She said smiling. I sat Indian style on the floor and waited while Amanda got up from the chair. She sat down in front of me and then carefully placed Aurora in my arms.
"Wow, she's just, wow. She's so beautiful. She looks just like you, except for the hair." I said smiling at Aurora's platinum blonde hair.
"She has your eyes too." Amanda said, smiling at me. I smiled back.
This is how it always should've been.
"How was the rest of the tour?"
"It went well. All of our shows sold out."
"That's good."
"Jacob mentioned that you're dating again." She said after a minute of silence. I nodded my head but couldn't look at her.
"It's nothing serious."
"Oh, I didn't know that you had a girlfriend, Jacob just mentioned that you had started dating again in general."
"She's not really a girlfriend as much as she is a girl that I see every now and then." She nodded and went back to looking at Aurora.
"I'll be back in a second. I'm gonna go get something." A few minutes later she came back.
I looked up right as the camera flashed.
"Well, now that I'm officially blinded," I said with a hint of laughter in my voice, "what's the camera for?"
"I want pictures of Aurora and you for her baby book."
"Oh, ok. Sure." She took the rest of the roll and then put her camera down.
"We fired Mike M." I said as she sat back down.
"What?"
"We fired Mike M. None of the guys agreed with what he had done and Mike C. didn't either so we fired him."
"Oh, well uh, ok."
"Mike C. doesn't care if I'm in O-town and I'm a daddy. He actually encouraged it."
"What are you saying Ashley?"
"I'm saying that I'd really like to be a part of Aurora's life. I'd like to be part of yours to, but I'll understand if you just want to be friends right now."
"You really want to be a part of Aurora's life?"
"Yeah, I do. I always have and I always will."
"Then how can I keep you from her? Of course you can be in her life. You and me are a different story though. I think for right now, we just need to be friends." I nodded in understanding, but smiled nonetheless.
"Can we bring her downstairs? I know that the other guys are anxious to meet her too."
"Sure." I carefully stood up and then we walked out of the room and down the stairs into the living room where everyone else was talking and eating pizza.
"We were wondering what happened to you guys." Andy said when he noticed us.
"Guys, there's someone I'd like you to meet. This is Aurora." I said bringing Aurora over to the couch where the guys were. The scooted over so that I could sit in the middle.
"Wow. She's beautiful." Jacob said.
"She's got Amanda's nose." Erik said, smiling at Aurora.
"And her smile." Trevor added as Aurora smiled her toothless smile.
"Did you tell her?" Jacob asked.
"Yeah." I said looking down at Aurora. She looked up at me with her big blue eyes and held the finger that I had been rubbing her arm with. Everything was gonna be fine.
