More Than Anything
Chapter 7- Keep Moving
Another ditch in the road/You keep moving/Another stop sign/You keep moving on/And the years go by so fast/Wonder how I ever made it through
~*Amanda's Point Of View*~
Ashley had been gone two weeks, but the tour wouldn't end for another three. I had talked to all of the guys and kept them up to date on what I found out.
The doctor had finally narrowed it down to mononucleosis, aka mono. Normally mono is easily detected, however due to an allergic reaction to an antibiotic I had been taking; it didn't show up in my blood work until recently.
The guys had been doing well, nothing out of the ordinary. They were becoming anxious and were ready to come home, but also sad to see the tour ending.
I was lonely too. I was contemplating moving back to LA; I wasn't sure if I wanted to move again though. I had moved so many times in the last year or so. It was getting to be a bit much, not to mention the fact that I had to find a job and a sitter for Aurora. Argh, it's too complicated. Things need to go back to being simple.
~*Ashley's Point Of View*~
"I'm so ready to go home." I said flopping down onto the bed in the hotel room Jake and I were sharing. We had just finished a concert and I for one was extremely exhausted.
"Me too. I'm really looking forward to that week off. The last time I went home was the week before the tour started."
"I barely got to see my family on the three day break I had. I was happy to have it though."
"Speaking of, how's Amanda doing?"
"She's ok. She's hanging in there. My mom said that she's been sleeping almost twenty hours a day."
"Has she been taking care of her?"
"Pretty much. Amanda needed someone too watch Aurora while she was on bed rest and since she is on bed rest she basically sleeps. It's good for her though. Sleep will help her get well."
"Is she on any medication?"
"The doctor gave her something for her throat, but that's really all he can give her. I think she's taking Augmenten too, but I'm not sure."
"Is she getting better?"
"Yeah. She's gone to the doctor twice since I've been gone and she has another appointment sometime later this week. Unfortunately the doctor has no real idea how long she'll actually be sick, it could be anywhere from a couple more weeks to a couple more months, it all depends on her immune system."
"That really sucks."
"Yeah, but at least its not fatal, and it won't last forever."
"That's true. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm exhausted. I'm gonna hit the sack. See ya in the morning."
"Night Jake." I turned out the light and got comfortable in the soft hotel bed.
A week later we found ourselves in Charleston. The tour was really starting to wind down. We only had two weeks left before the tour was officially over and we could go home.
"Hello?" I questioned as I answered my ringing phone. We were at the venue that the concert would be at that night. The show started in a little under an hour.
"Ashley? It's me Madison."
"Madison? Hey, so what's up?"
"Uh I have something that I need to tell you. It's kinda important and I was really hoping that I could tell you in person."
"Oh, well, uh the tour doesn't end for another two weeks, can it wait until then?"
"Not really. This is something that I really need to talk to you about soon. I'm in Charleston, can I talk to you after the concert tonight?"
"Uh sure, can you get down to the venue? I'll leave your name with the security guard so you won't have a problem getting in. The show doesn't start for an hour so I might get to see you before it starts if you hurry."
"I'll be there as soon as I can."
"Come in through the back, I'll try to meet you there."
"Ok, see you soon."
"Who was that?" Erik asked after I had hung up the phone.
"That was Madison. She had something important to tell me so she's going to come down to the venue to talk to me."
"Oh. Any clue what she needs to tell you?"
"Not the in the slightest."
"Well, that's always good."
"Oh yeah." I replied sarcastically.
"Well, I'm gonna go and wait for her. Come and get me if we need to go on."
"Will do." I smiled and walked out of the dressing room.
After winding through many back hallways, I found myself at the back door.
"Hey Jeff, mind if I hang out here for a while? I'm waiting for someone."
"Fine by me."
"Thanks." I stood just inside of the door and watched for her to arrive.
A few minutes later she walked up the stairs that led to the back door.
"Backstage pass?" Jeff asked.
"No uh-"
"She's with me." I said, stepping forward. She smiled warmly at me and I returned her smile.
"Alright." I took her hand and led her back to one of the unoccupied dressing rooms so that we could have some privacy to talk.
"Now what was so urgent that you had to tell me tonight?"
"This is probably the last thing you want to hear. Infact you probably don't even want to hear it, so I think I'll just go." She said as she started to stand up.
"Nope, sorry. You're not getting off the hook that easily. Now what was it that you had to tell me?"
"Can't I tell you after the show?" She asked, wringing her hands.
"Come on Madison, this is me. Whatever it is, you can tell me."
"Well, don't say that I didn't try to warn you."
"Cross my heart." She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"I'm pregnant."
