It had been two weeks since Amanda left. She had been out of the hospital for a week. I was in Redding with her for the next three days, she was supposed to get her test results back soon and wanted me there with her when they told her.
"Hello?" She asked, picking up the phone.
"Oh, uhm sure. I could come down around 3:00. Is that ok?"
"Alright. We'll see you then."
"Who was that?" I asked once she hung the phone up.
"That was Dr. Krasner. He wants to see me at 3:00 to give me the test results."
"That's in half an hour."
"Mmhmm. I'm going to take Aurora over to your mom's and then we'll head down to the doctor's office."
"Ok. I'll go get Aurora."
I went back to Aurora's room and picked her up out of her crib. I grabbed the baby bag and then met Amanda out in the living room.
"You ready to go?"
"Yeah." I followed her out the door and she locked it behind us.
It only took about five minutes to get to my house from her apartment so we were there fairly fast.
"Thank you for watching her."
"Oh no problem Amanda. Good luck at the doctors."
"Thanks Mrs. Angel."
"Thanks mom." I gave my mom a hug and a kiss on the cheek.
I took Amanda's hand and we headed back to her car.
"Do you want me to drive?"
"Would you? I'm just so nervous."
"That's fine. I don't mind driving at all."
"Thank you." She gave me a small kiss and then got in on the passenger side.
We arrived at the hospital ten minutes before 3:00. I gave her an encouraging smile before I climbed out of the car. She gout out of the passenger side and I met her halfway. I took her hand in mine again and gave it a reassuring squeeze.
"Everything will be ok." I whispered, opening the door to the hospital. She took a deep breath and sighed.
We took the elevator up to the third floor and signed in at the front desk. Then we took a seat in the waiting room and waited for our name to be called.
"Mrs. Herzig?" I felt Amanda tense up.
"Take a deep breath, everything is gonna be fine." She nodded and stood up.
We slowly walked over to where the nurse was standing and followed her back to Dr. Krasner's office.
"Hello Amanda, nice to see you again. Please, have a seat."
"Dr. Krasner I'd like you to meet my boyfriend Ashley, Ashley, Dr. Krasner." I shook his hand before sitting down next to Amanda.
"There's good news and there's bad news which would you like to here first?"
"The good news."
"It's not fatal, atleast not at this stage."
"What's the bad news?"
"We still aren't sure what it is and we aren't positive that it won't turn into something fatal within the next few years. We want to run more tests and do a few cultures to see if we can determine what's wrong. We'd also like to do a full body CAT scan."
" When do you want to do the blood work, the scraping for the cultures, and the CAT scan?"
"Is tomorrow alright?
"That's fine. Can we do it early in the morning?"
"Sure. Anytime after 8:00."
"Ok. Thank you Dr. Krasner. See you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow. It was nice to meet you Ashley."
"It was nice to meet you too Dr. Krasner."

Ashley had dropped me off and then gone to get Aurora. I was currently pacing in the living room.
I was happy that he didn't think that it was fatal, but I was worried because he still didnt know what it was.
"Honey, I'm home!" Ashley shouted as he walked through the front door.
"Can I hold Aurora?" I asked.
"Sure." He placed Aurora in my arms and then we both sat down on the couch.
"I'm nervous about tomorrow morning. I mean, what if they find that it is fatal. I don't know what I would do."
"We'll figure it out. I promise you no matter what the outcome is, everything is gonna be ok. I'll be here for you the entire time. You won't be alone at all."
"I love you Ashley."
"I love you too Amanda."
"She fell asleep." He whispered.
"Mmhmm."
"She sleeps a lot."
"Yeah, but she's a baby, what do you expect?" He smiled and shrugged.
"I'm gonna put Aurora in her crib, I'll be right back."
"Ok."
After I had placed Aurora in her crib I turned on the baby monitor and then walked back out to the living room.
I sat back down next to Ashley and rested my head against his shoulder.
"When do you leave?"
"The day after tomorrow." I nodded and then sat up and turned towards him.
"How much longer until the tour is over?"
"A month and a week."
"Will you be able to come back here for a day or two after the tour?"
"Yeah. I think that we might even have that week off, so I'll be here for awhile." I nodded and then sighed lightly.

"You are so beautiful" I said as I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear. She blushed and gave me a shy smile. I returned her smile and leaned in to kiss her.
After kissing for a few minutes she deepened the kiss and began to lean back on the couch. I situated myself so that I was hovering over her and continued to kiss her.
She slid her hands up my shirt and pulled it over my head.
"Maybe we should continue this in your room." I whispered in-between ragged breaths. She nodded in agreement and kissed me lightly on the lips.
I stood up and pulled her with me into her bedroom.
