CHAPTER 1

It was a cool autumn afternoon in Japan and cherry blossoms are becoming a common sight. Students from Osaka College are proceeding out of their respective classrooms since it is actually time to go home according to the schedule. As usual, most, if not all of the students will have some fun before going home.

Cindy Nakamura, a 15 year old 9th grader is one of those students. She was waiting for her friends Angel Lee and Lexie Collins, who is an immigrant. The three of them planned to surf through the Internet, looking for necessary data to be used in their research work, and as well as information about celebrities. They might check their respective e-mails as well.

To someone who doesn't know them good enough, they're just an ordinary group of friends who like to have some fun, but there is something more than ordinary in Angel and Cindy. The former has the abilities of a psychic, while the latter is fully capable of astral projection. Their "talents" are known exclusively to the three of them only. Even though Lexie wasn't that "gifted", she compensates for it by being the most cheerful in the group; simply smiling at a problem while finding a solution.

"Hi, Cindy!" a familiar voice called. "I'm awfully sorry to keep you waiting."

Turning around, Cindy saw Angel approaching her.

"It is okay, Angel," Cindy said. "Where's Lexie? I thought she is also coming."

"Oh, she had to go home to get some things," her friend answered. "By the way, did you tell her where we will spend our time gathering those data?"

"Yes, I did,"Cindy assured. "I told her we are going to use the computer with Internet access found in that vacant office, which is located several meters away frommy father's office. Lexie knows the place as well as we do. It has been two years or so, since her family immigrated here in Japan from America."

"Oh, yeah I know," Angel replied. "But there are rumors which stated that the place is haunted after a serial killer hanged himself there."

Cindy frowned. "Hey, that is quite far from reality. Besides, there are no ghosts there, they do not exist. And if you are actually doubting whether I asked permission to use that computer unit, let me tell you that the head himself allowed us."

"Okay, okay shall we go now?" Angel said.

"Sure!"

The two girls arrived at their destination at around 6:30 p.m. All employees are preparing to go home. Nobody seems to notice the two friends as they passed along the corridors. Cindy opened the door to the vacant office and stared at the room which was still dark. Angel flipped a switch and the room was illuminated by a faint light from the light bulb on the ceiling.

"There's the computer unit on the desk," Cindy said.

"Oh yeah! I'll go get some chairs for us to sit on," Angel giggled. "This room is quite dusty though."

"Well, never mind it," Cindy replied as she activated the computer's system. "Okay, let's start now," she added while clicking the Internet explorer.

"Uhmm...shall we do it when Lexie arrives? For the meantime, let's look for funstuff on the Internet," her friend requested.

"Like what?"

"Like anime."

"Alright," Cindy sighed. "What particular anime do you like to browse on the web?"

"The ones with romance," Angel answered with a dreamy look on her eyes.

"Angel, you're hopeless."

After a few clicks on the mouse, Cindy had logged on to a website with a search engine. Typing in the words ANIME ROMANCES and clicking the search button, she began her exploration. After a few seconds, they were presented with homepages and websites relevant to their desired topic.

"Now where shall we go?" Cindy said after a while.

"Would you mind if we log on to this website with links to anime love stories info?" Angel asked pointing at the monitor.

"No, it is alright."

After a while, the two girlssaw several links. It took sometime for them to decide on what to choose.

"I guess we can try this item entitled 'THE MYSTERIOUS GAME: FUSHIGI YUUGI' first," Cindy suggested.

"Sure thing! I have seen the whole thing on T.V. The story's really nice and it is highlighted with comedy and drama," Angel replied.

"Yeah, I've seen the first and second OVA series, too," Cindy said.

"I only read aboutthe OVA series on the Internet, but I am planning to buy some VCDs of those," Angel smiled.

As they browsed through the webpage, they were able to gain some information about the storyline of the television series and the first and second OVA. Suddenly, the monitor went blank and it produced a blinding flash of light.

"What's happening Cindy?" Angel asked fearfully.

"I don't know but I'm going to ask an authorized personnel about this," Cindy said trying to remain calm.

"Look! Something is being displayed on the monitor. It says 'GOTCHA! Seiji Kimoyo will have his revenge'"

"Uhh...Seiji Kimoyo is the name of the serial killer who hanged himself here. Could it be..."

"Cindy, let's get out of here before..."

Angel didn't have the chance to finish her words for the computer's light flashed more brightly than before. When the light was gone, the two girls were nowhere to be seen
