Pledge Class Requirements 

1. Attend an orientation meeting and apply for membership.

2. Have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

3. Pay initiation dues of $40.00. $20.00 of which goes to the National Chapter while the other $20.00 are used by the Chapter to purchase member Alpha Psi Omega pin, membership card, and process paperwork.

4. They must accumulate at least 30 Alpha Psi Omega Points prior to initiation.

5. Pledges are required to learn the names and symbols of the Greek Alphabet.

6. Pledges are required to learn the names and addresses of the National and Local Officers.

7. Pledges are required to memorize a speech from the Shakespeare canon at least 16 lines for Presentation.

8. Pledges shall be prepared to answer questions about Alpha Psi Omega and other theatre related topics. They shall also prepare a 60 second speech to express why they want to be a member of the UCF Cast of Alpha Psi Omega.

9. Pledges shall be expected to be active in all Alpha Psi Omega sponsored events unless excused by the President

10. Pledges shall be voted on by the general membership for admission based entirely on their contributions to Alpha Psi Omega, Theatre UCF and adherence to the pledging guidelines.

11. Pledges shall be given a written outline of what is expected of them, the Date, Time, Place of both the written exam and of the formal initiation. Mode of dress and personal conduct shall also be addressed in writing.

12. The Pledge Class as a whole shall be required to plan and perform a Cabaret Show of at least 30 minutes utilizing all members of the pledge class. Not all pledges have to perform, but all have to be actively involved.

OFFICERS

General Eligibility Information:

The University has established the following minimum requirements for service in student leadership positions. Such positions may be elected or appointed and shall include without limitation, only as the University deems appropriate in its sole discretion, student government officials, officers of active registered student organizations, members of University department-sponsored groups, and members of University committees. These minimum requirements may be reviewed for waiver only under extraordinary circumstances as deemed appropriate by the University in its sole discretion.

  1. During fall and spring semesters, be continually enrolled as a student activity fee-paying half-time student (currently defined as at least six     (6) credit hours as an undergraduate degree-seeking student or a post-baccalaureate student, or at least five (5) credit hours in a graduate degree-seeking program). Student is not required to be enrolled during summer term, however, student must be continuously enrolled during preceding spring semester and following fall semester.
  2. Have a minimum institutional grade point average of 2.5 for all hours earned while enrolled at UCF and/or previous educational institution if student is a transfer student.
  3. Maintain satisfactory academic progress as defined in the current Undergraduate Catalog and the current Graduate Catalog of UCF, as appropriate.
  4. Be in good academic and disciplinary standing, defined as not being on academic or disciplinary probation.
  5. Be free of financial or disciplinary holds on University records. Student will have two weeks to clear such holds before removal from leadership position.

Students who do not meet these minimum requirements may submit a written appeal to the Eligibility Appeals Board through the Office of Student Activities within 2 weeks from the first day of class each semester. The appeal should address the causes for ineligibility and reasons for believing that the problems have been resolved. The Eligibility Appeals Board is the deciding body that, upon hearing the appeal may waive the eligibility requirements for one semester.

 

 

MEMBERSHIP

Membership in any student organization is limited to any student who is currently paying fees and is enrolled with the University of Central Florida. Organizational membership requirements must also be satisfied. UCF faculty, staff, alumni, and Central Florida Research Park employees may be non-voting members.
