Chapter 51
January 28th 2000
Dear Diary,
As all the things I wrote Tuesday happend last week when we got back, it's now time for familydinner, which also is an early birthdaycelebration. I have my birthday the next weekend and I can't have more than one day off in the week now since I just had vacation. So Sunday the 30th it came to be instead of Saturday we've invited the families to birthdaydinner and "photoshowing". Then on Saturday the next week we have our friends over.
I've worked a lot of dayshifts since we came back so I've had the time to put the photos into albums. It's easier to show and then there's not going to be that many thumbs on the photos.
January 31st 2000
Dinner went well. I had "smoked-cured loin of pork"(kassler in Swedish) and potatogratin. And then coffee and cake. We had gotten enlarged copies of the photo of us from Annie and Harm's wedding. We had found frames when we were in L.A before that wedding, but we had our photo taken at New Years too. We found them in a shop that sold cheap stuff and bought the last 10. 10??? well; one each for my siblings(that's three), one for my parents, one for my grandparents, one for Ola's sister, one for his mother, one for his father and one for his grandmother and of course one for ourself.
So it was just as many gifts given away as it was getting for me. Mostly it was money so that I can buy something I need when I need it instead. I did get a really nice chrystal bowl from Ola's father and grandmother. It had been given to Ola's greatgrand- parents as a weddinggift. It had the most fantastic engraved pattern that's not describable. Ulf(Ola's father) said that there's two smorler bowls just the same....I guess by the look he gave Ola that they're coming as a wedding gift because Ola said something like "next summer then"
February 6th 2000
The party for the friends last night was fun. Most of my friends haven't been here yet and the one's on Ola's "side" thought we've made a nice home(it did change a bit when I moved in). I know them since before because it's the same friends as Anna and Svenne has so I've known them as long as I've know Ola.
Today it's my birthday and I've been working the dayshift. When I came home Ola had set the table in the diningroom with candles and red roses. He had been out shopping for them and dinner. And of course he'd started dinner too. I didn't have to do a thing, it's nice to be "spoiled" sometimes. I had told him not to buy me anything(stuff-the roses are always welcome), but he had-kind off. When I had showered and sat down at the table there was a "book" on my plate. On the first side it said "Grattis älskling! Välj en så köper vi den.(Happy birthday darling! Choose one and we'll buy it.)"Chapter 52
Still February 6th 2000
The "book" he had put together himself was of different dishwashers. We had talked about buying one. First I laughed at it, I really didn't know what to expect of that line on the first side"choose one and we'll buy it". The only thing I knew it couldn't be was a dog, we both work way to much to have one.
Since there was a few ones that seemed good we decided to go look at them the next time we had a day off together.
February 29th 2000
The time goes by so fast now. We're back at work both of us and next month things really are starting to pick up for Ola. He had some half days now in February and the Friday after my birthday I had the day off and Ola came home around 2 PM so we did go buy that dishwasher. Then Ola istalled it on the Saturday. That day had been such a bad day at work and when I came home I found the kitchen in the worst mess ever. I just let it out. "Bad day at work?" he said and then he laughed "but now is the dishwasher working". I just gave him an angry look. "I'll clean it up- go start a bath and I'll join you soon. Then we can go out for dinner"
The day ended much better than it had come to be.
April 14th 2000
The spring is here! March just flew by. We worked, went to birthday- parties and had a picninc to celebrate our 9 month anniversary the 15th. Ola have started to work a bit more now and when he the other day can to load the truck the stuff wasn't there yet so he had to stay the night. It was a 4 hour drive back and up again if he hadn't and it's not that fun to do. Luckily I was working late that evening and then starting early the next day, but I missed him anyway. We haven't been apart since the autum when he drove with beetroots. Then it happened 4 times, but it's only 3 times that count, I was with him the one time.
The Easter is just around the corner(next week to be exact). We'll be having dinner at my parents on Saturday after I've been working and then I got the day off Sunday and then it's Easterdinner at Ola's mother.
I bet you wonder what happend to Marie back in January when we got home. The next day(Monday) she called and Ola was in the office trying to organize his drives. I answered the phone and she was really polite asking how it was and so before she asked to speak to Ola. As he was working on the computer he turned the speakerphone on and signed for me to stay. What she had to say?
Well she had married and was pregnant, so now it really was over! Ola just shook his head, looked at me with "poor man" in his eyes. "Good Luck" he said. "The two of you, aren't you getting married?" she asked in a curious way. "Next year" he answered and continued "we don't have time this year. Anything else?" he started to be irritated." I've got some work to do- we've been in Sunset Beach the last three weeks" "So that's where you've been, your mother just said USA- give my love to Tina! Bye!" she said "Bye!" he sighed with relif when he hanged up.
I got a letter from Meg the other day. They've decided their rout of travelling- 2 weeks in Venice/Italy(maybe they travel around she wrote) and then 3 weeks here and finally one in England. They're probably coming the 3 first weeks in July. It will be fun. She also told us that Derek and Caroline won't come it was too early to travel that far with the twins and then they had to get the office started, since they were running it together. And maybe that's good, my apartment isn't that big, 4 adults and 5 kids can be a bit too much. I have to remember to call her at Easter.
Now I have to run, Ola made dinner today and it's ready now. I hope I write more after Easter.Chapter 53
May 12th 2000
Dear Diary,
Nothing much is happening here. Easter went by with dinners. Traditional Easterdinner with eggs, pickled herring and cold cuts at my parents, and at Lena's we got rosted chicken on the Sunday. It was delicious. She's a great cook, and she's tought her son well to, because Ola is not a stranger in the kitchen I can tell you that.
The last day of April is "Valborgsmässoafton" when we celebrate the Spring and light big fires. It was a lovely evening Anna and Svenne came and we all took our bikes and went to soem other friends to BBQ some sausages. It's the first BBQ of the year and it's done almost whatever weather it is.
Of course we as usal and that is rather a lot so I don't have that much to write about.
I did talk to Meg the other day and it's now settled that they'll be coming the first three weeks of July, the exact date and time will they call about from Venice a few days before they leave. I've asked for the first week off, so that we can go around the area and show it to Meg and the children. I think I'll make a party for them when they get here(maybe the 8th of July). At least it's the easiest way for them to meet our friends, the family we have to visit where they live, so to speak. I hope the weather will be great so that we can be outside and BBQ.
Now I really have a problem, it's Ola's birthday next Friday and I don't have a clue what to give him, after all he buys his clothes himself, and the same goes for stuff for the cars. I don't want to buy him a giftcertificate, it's too unpersonal. I can't really think of anything to buy for the two of us either, after all he arrange for us to buy the dishwasher. Oh! We might need a new toaster, mine(the old one) is starting to act up. I have to think about it.
I any case I've taken the day off and I'm planning to have dinner well on the way when he gets home, which can be a bit late on Fridays.
Then he said something about having a birthdayparty the nest weekend after his birthday, but that's when Anna's having her's. And then on the Sunday(28th) we're going to our parent's place, because Anna and our mother have the same birthday, and it's time to celebrate there this year. Maybe we can call the party the 8th of July kind of a birthdayparty for Ola, what is a difference of alomost two months.......
May 30th 2000
Dear Diary,
Ooops! Where does the time go? I did buy Ola a toaster! LOL! The other one broke down! And then I had planned a lovely candlelight dinner. And then Ola showed up at 5PM already, I hadn't even started dinner, and although I said I didn't need any help we did cook the dinner together. Not that I mind, we have so much fun cooking together.
The next Saturday after that(this latest one, 27th) we went to Anna's birthdayparty. It was fun, some of the people we hadn't meet for a year. They said that they heard of our "story" how Ola went after me to Sunset Beach and stuff. She had been cooking all afternoon, and it tasted really good.
At dinner the other day Ola had a sad expression on his face. I asked if it was anything wring with his grandmother, she's been a bit ill from time to time this Spring.
Ola: No, I have other bad news. I've got a long drive the 15th and I won't come home until the Friday(16th). I really wanted us to spend our first anniversary together-but I promise you that I'll make it up to you.
Me: You don't have to, I want us to spend that day together too, but if you have to work, so be it. Maybe we can go out for dinner on the Saturday instead?
Ola: Just the two of us, or shall we ask Anna and Svenne?
Me: We can ask them, and maybe Christine and Peter too, after all they're getting married the week after that and it should be fun to have dinner with them.
Ola: Then we can ask Håkan and Marie too(authors note: not the ex-girlfriend), that makes us even pairs.
Me: Sounds good.
Ola: And then we can go back here for coffee. Maybe you can bake a choclatecake.
Me: Of course I can, and since you're asking I guess I have to do it too, I mean you're not that found of cakes and cookies otherwise.
June 18th 2000
Dear Diary,
Now the time have flown away again. Dinner last night was great. We went to one of those places that are open just for the summer. The food was good and so was the company(they could all come). After dinner we went back to our place for coffee. We sat in the livingroom chatting, drinking coffee and eating that cake. Ola went to get some whiskey and liqueur for those who wanted it. Or at least that's what I thought he did.Chapter 54
Ola went to get some whiskey and liqueur for those who wanted it. Or at least that's what I thought he did.
I was talking to Christine about her wedding. I didn't notice that Ola was back in the livingroom until the others went "Wow!"
There he was infront of me on his knee. He took my hand in his.
Ola: Tina, I said I'll make missing our anniversary up to you. Now don't think, because of this, I planned to stay away that day, I didn't and I couldn't get out of it. I also know we said that we'll decide this together, but I have a suggestion to make. Tina, my love would you do me the honours( I could hear how the others didn't breath) to become my wife and marry me the 14th of July 2001?
The tears I've during his speach saved just ran out of my eyes. All I could do was to nod. Well I managed to squeese out a Yes! As I did Håkan pulled out a bottle of champange that's been hidden beside the chair he was sitting in.
Marie: Did you know this? she said as she friendly slapped him on the arm.
Håkan: Yes.
Marie: And you didn't tell me?
Ola: I made him not to, and he only got to know yesterday on the way back.
(Håkan had been with Ola on that long drive)
I was still a bit chocked but we had the bubbling and then the others went home and we called it the night.
I almost forgot! He did give me a ring too, just a thin one that will go perfect with the others and I don't think it will feel clumsy either as it's so thin.
As I had been working the dayshift yesterday I have today off. But I woke up at 8AM just as usal(my alarm always gets off that time, unless I don't need to get up earlier then I change it) and the radio started at that time too. As I turned over to put the alarm off they played "Have I told you lately that I love you" on the radio. How appropriate I said to myself halfhigh. -Isn't it Ola mumbled. I snuggled myself into his arms and went back to sleep.
We both woke up around 10 and went up to have breakfast. The first time together in 2,5 weeks we came to think of when we sat there. Usally Ola's "on the road" when I get to breakfast. The weather was great so we decided to go for a walk and ended up at Anna and Svenne's. Anna was working but Svenne asked if we couln't come this evening and BBQ with them. We said ok, after all we had to eat dinner, and could as easily do it there. We went home and got back there in the evening better dressed to sit outside.
July 22nd 2000
Tomorrow it's Midsummer and then Ben and Meg are coming in about 1 week. I look forward to show Meg and the kids around this area, after all Ben's been here before, and it hasn't changed very much.
I have to tell you about this. When I was working yesterday and had the most customers all day someone came by with a big blue truck, flashing the lights and blowing the horn! Well it was Ola of course, he loves to do that to me when there are a lot of people outside the kiosk. He sais he does it because of all those times I missed waving to him before I really knew him. But I have my ways on getting back on him. LOL
So now that we decided the date for our wedding(it will be the 14th of July 2001,next year that is) I've started to make some lists. What to do, who to invite and so on. And before I went to work yesterday I did go by my "home-church"(the one where I grew up) to see if it was free for us. It was, but now it isn't. I guess a big step is made in the direction of a wedding being created.Chapter 55
June 26th 2000
Dear Diary,
The day started early! I worked last night and usally I try to sleep until 10AM, but at 8.30 the phone rang.
Me: Hej, det är Tina!(Hi, it's Tina!)
In the other end: Hi Tina! It's Meg! Did I wake you?
Me: Oh, yes, but that doesn't matter.
Meg: I'm sorry! It's just that we're going to start driving around here in Italy in about an hour and I liked to call you first to confirm our arrival, since I don't know where we're staying from day to day.
Me: Mmmmm, it's ok, I was working last night, and then I'll be working all week because Anna's having the week off.
Meg: Oh! I see. Anyway, we're arriving Saturday at 2.30 PM, if the plane is on time.
Me: That's good, I've taken all Saturday off, so I'll be there and meet you at the airport. What's your flightnumber, so I can call and get it confirmed.
Meg: I've seem to have packed it down, can I e-mail it to you tonight?
Me: Yes, or fax it, it's the same number as the phone.
Meg: I'll do that! See you Saturday, give my love to Ola.
Me: OK, give my love to the others too. Bye!
Meg: Bye!
Since I was awake, it was just to get up and start the day, I've said to myself that I'll try to clean the house up a bit. We've been renovating a room upstairs and it feels like the whole house is full of dust. But that doesn't really matter, the room turned out fine.
As usal when Ola gets up earlier than me(which in the weeks is almost every day) the coffeebrewer was just to turn on. He's just so.... well I wouldn't say perfect, but almost. Some days I can't believe that he's mine and we're going to spend the rest of our lifes together.
I did managed to get the upstairs ready, after all I'm going to spend most of next week out of home and then next Saturday(8th of July) we're going to have a whole day party. In the afternoon(around1.30) we've told our families to come for coffee(and meeting Ben an his family) since Ola still hasn't had a "proper" birthdayparty. Then in the evening, or from 4PM and forward we've told the friends to come whenever they like and at 6-6.30 we're start the BBQ and have dinner. It's a mix of the annual summerparty(among my friends) and Ola's birthday.
I have to go get ready for work now, Ola's working late all this week, which suits me fine since I'm working almost every evening this week. He's also planned to take the next week of, or at least he said Wenedesday and forward. We're going to Denmark by train on Thursday. The bridge will be officially opened on Saturday this week.
June 27th 2000
Dear Diary,
I was working late(to midnight) last night and have been working the dayshift today. The funniest thing happend last night. It was really hot outside, and add to that that I need to have a lot of heat on in the kiosk so I can cook and fry quickly. It was still early in the evening when I stood at the sink peeling onions when I suddenly felt a pair of arms around me..... It was Ola, I guess I have to start paying attention when I got the door wideopen.
He was finished for the day and had done the last unloading in Ystad. So he came to eat at the kiosk, well I had done the same when I got there, because after cleaning the house all day I didn't feel up to cook dinner, and especially not for just me when I just as easily can take something at work.
Someone else just turned up at the same time. Not in the door, but in the "window" where we serve. It was Hans, he's more than a bit mad of Ola. Apperently he had his eyes on me before I even had met Ola. He's one of the friends of Anna and Svenne's too, and I had met him before Ola, but he's not my kind. He did look almost angry though. The same thing have happend before with other customers, but they've just smiled and said we look loevly together.
I told Ola about the phonecall from Meg, and he said that it suited him great to go with me picking them up! Well, we have to take my father's car then, so that we all can sit properly(it's one of these familycars that takes 8 or 9 persons). So it looks like we both are going to the airport Saturday, maybe we can pack a picnic and go out earlier for a drive just the two of us. I don't think we've done that since....April....I guess....it's been so much work this Spring that I don't know what's up and down some days. LOLChapter 56
July 2nd 2000
Dear Diary,
So, now they're finally here! My cousin Ben and his family. We got them installed in my apartment last night and then we went out to dinner on the town. Since they only had to travel from Italy they weren't that tired and we had time for a long chat too after the kids fallen asleep.
Well they had had a great time in Italy. Although they live in the sun all year around it showed on them that they were newly tanned. And that was not all that was showing...... but we come to that later.
We(Ola and me) both woke up around 9AM, typical it's Saturday and we both have the day off and nothing to do than to pick the Evans' up. Anyway, I sent Ola to the store to get some fresh bread and I started the coffee. It really was a lovely day and we had decided(as we drew the blinders up) to go for that picnic before we were picking the others up.
There's a small forrest not long from home that really is, shall I call it cosy, and we went there and had breakfast, or maybe it was more of a brunch the time had ran away and it was 11.30 when we finally sat down in our favorite picnicspot. It's a bit into the forrest and up the hill a bit. There it's a open spot on a "shelf" were the sun keeps shining in all day long. The very first time we found it we stayed there for hours, but this time we had to go down again to get a better connection on our cellphones and call the airport to see the actual arrival time for the others.
We learned that the flight was delayed about half an hour and was to land at 3PM. That gave us some time to go by the apartment to pack a few things I have laying around there, that the attends had been using(cups, glasses and stuff not my best things, them I already have at home). I'm selling it soon(the apartment), there's no need to keep it. Our realtionship is solid enough now and I do feel like it's my home too now...Ola's house that is....well our house although he's the one owning it, or his company is but that's the same person.
We arrived at the airport at 2.45 and went to the place were you can go see the planes land, I just love the airport for many years I dreamed about working there in some way, but I decided it was too much of education so I stuck with my work in the kiosk. As the plane landed we went to the customs. They have to go thru it and hopefully it goes quickly, since they're not Eurpoean citizens, not Meg and the kids at least I don't know if Ben's both European and American I guess I have to figure that out. Not many minutes passed since we saw the first arrivals come out before....
-Ola! Tina! Here we are!!!!!! it was the kids. They threw themself at us.
Ola: Take it easy, you'll knock us over.
Ahsley: We've missed you soooooo much.(she measured with her arms)
Me: We've missed you too, all of you. But where's mommy and daddy?
Trevor: Daddy went into some trouble, the man travels with two passports. It was the same in Italy.
Me and Ola laughed, it sounded so funny comming from Trevor.
Ola: Did you like Italy? he asked Dallas and she just nodded.
Ben: Well, the next time we'll send the kids by themselves, they seem to know who they shall go to when they get to their destination. He was laughing because the kids were all around Ola.
Me: Hi! Welcome! I went over to Ben and gave him a hug.
Meg: And me then????
Me: Of course you're.........welcome too. Congrats!
As I hugged Meg I said to Ben over her shoulder: Someone's not been playing safe here????
Ben(blushed): Well....we said at New Years that if it's about to happen it will, or otherwise we're not trying again. It's really enough with the three we got, but we did long for a new one.
Ola: And it looks like it was meant to be.
Meg: And the two of you????
Me: Oh, no, not until after we're married.
Ben: It sounds like you've found a very determined lady there Ola.
Ola: Yes, but I know how to get my ways......
Me: Oh, you do? Let's all get to the car, do you have all your stuff?
Meg: Yes, and the kids....oh, Ola have them, she laughed as she saw her kids climb all over Ola.
Ben: Children, it's time to let go of Ola, we have to get to the car.
Trevor: Are we going to Ola and Tina's?
Me: No, not today, now were driving to Ystad, it's were I used to live. You are going to stay in my apartment.
Ashely: But isn't you staying there?
Me: No, I'm staying in my new home with Ola. I'm about to sell the apartment after this summer.
Meg: You are?
Me: Well, it's too much trouble getting the board to approve of new attendents all the time, so now I felt it was time to sell.
Ben: Maybe.....
Ola: What????
Ben: I was jsut thinking, that it could be good to have a place here, I mean we and Derek and his family could use it when we get here, and maybe Bette and Ahse too.....
Me: Maybe we can look into it during your stay. Now let's get on the road.
Chapter 57
We stayed at Ben and Meg until 2AM. We had so much to talk about. How everyone in Sunset Beach are doing and so on. Well to start with that. Mark and Sue sat their weddingdate to New Years Eve, exactly one year after their engagement. Paula and Sam are too having a baby, but that's barely offical. She's about 3 months along, so in the beginning of next year the family is growing even more. First now in August Sara and Casey are having their first baby and then in the end of September/beginning of October Ben and Meg are having their forth, and it's just one this time too. Meg told me that they by accident had gotten to know that it's a boy.
Me: So, do you have a name for him yet?
Ben: We said back before we knew that it was a lucky child, but we can't name a boy Lucky.
Meg: Certainly not, but my great grandfather was named Lucas, so that's a possibility.
Ola: Sounds like a good name. I had a friend when I was a kid. They moved to the other end of the country, but his brother was named Lukas, and he was our idol.
Me: You never told me about this.
Ola: Well, he was 10 and we were 7 so you could guess. He was allowed to go biking himself and a lot of other stuff.
Me: So what about Annie and Harm? You haven't told us anything about them.
Ben: I really don't know. They came back from their honeymoon after three weeks just as planned and then Harm had to start work at once, the same evening actually.
Meg: Yes, apperently "Mac" had been trying to reach him, but not gotten thru to the airplane, so there were a lot of messages on their answeringmachine when they got back. Annie called a few minutes after he had left.
Ben: Harm had just opened the suitcase, pulled out some clothes and packed the uniform and other necessaries and taken off. Their boss was missing and he had to get back to JAG.
Ola: All work no play....
Meg: Annie got mad, he didn't tell her a thing, just repacked and left. And then she couldn't get a hold of him for a week. And he didn't call either.
Me: I guess I'd get mad too, and hurt.
Ben: Yes. But then he just came back one day and acted like nothing had happend.
Meg: Not that Annie's been my favorite person in the past, but not even she needs this treatmeant. After that he's been working all the time, and Annie is just stuck in their house outside LA.
Me: Hasn't she got a job, or something.
Ben: Well, she tried, but knowing Annie the best job is the one as luxuarywife, not having to do anything. We haven't heard from here since before we left, so I guess they've let their marriage have one more try.
Meg: We know, since we've talked to Harm too, that "Mac" is flirting with him, and he doesn't dare to tell Annie, she would hit the roof.
Ola: I did get that impression too. She's got a hot temper, but they seemed so happy together.
Me: And when I met "Mac" she seemed to have gotten over Harm.
We also started to plan the week. Me and Ola had taken two cars to Ystad so that Ben and Meg could have the van this three weeks.
Me: I'm working late tomorrow, that is 5.30-12PM. But we can meet upp at my parent's at...let's say 2PM.
Meg: Sounds good, I can't wait to meet them. And then I get time to go groceryshopping in the morning.
Ben: Can you draw me a map, I bet I recongize when I come driving, but just to be sure.
Me: Of course, and I got a map over town too....I can point out the way to the market I do my shopping.
Well as I wrote we stayed until 2AM. I don't know where but the time just flew away. And then:
Ola: Darling, I guess we have to get going. I've got some stuff that's needs to be prepared tomorrow if I'm going to be able to take the week off from Wendesday.
Ben: So you won't come with us to "Österlen" on Monday?
Ola: No! And you won't "run into" me either, I'm driving up northwest both Monday and Tuesday.
So this was last night. Right now I'm at work and it's pretty quite here. This afternoon was great. Anna and Svenne came, my brother and my parents were home(my youngest sister was working) my grandparents came too. We had coffee and got the time for a stroll thru the village too. Some of the citizens that was out remembered Ben and thought it was nice to meet him again. And as usal all of the sudden it was time for me to go to work. Ola got a ride with Anna and Svenne, so I didn't have to drive him back first.
Chapter 58
July 3rd 2000
Dear Diary,
I'm soooo tired tonight. I came home about 12.45AM and it was almost 2 before I came to sleep. Then Ben and Meg came to pick me up at 9, so I had to go up at 8. We had planned to "do" "Österlen" today so we started by going to Kåseberga, the village bellow "Ale's stenar". It's this formation of a ship from the Vikings, a grave really. I like it there and when it's all clear like today you can see all the way to the Danish island "Bornholm".
Then we took the road of the coast. I did get to drive since I know the ways a bit better than both Ben and Meg. We stopped at a few of the smorl villages we went thru. There are a lot of people making handicrafts in that part. Our "goal" was Simrishamn where we had lunch. We went for a stroll in town too before we headed towards "Glimmingehus". Glimmingehus is an old castle from the middleages.
I didn't know before but my friend Annika was working today. She was just heading for her late lunch so we got to talk after we visited the castle instead. Annika is one of my dearest and best friends. She was there to support and encourage me when I first fell in love with Ola and then when I had the troubles with Micheal. She also told me "of course you should go visit your cousin in Sunset Beach".
Anyway we went into the castle, said hello to the giant standing inside the door. We visited the garden of herbs too, what a job they have done there. When we got back to the souvenirshop Annika had also gotten back. It was pretty quite, not many people so Annika had time to talk to us.
I introduced them to one another.
Meg: Nice to meet you Annika- have you been working here for long?
Annika: Well 7 or 8 years in the summers. But it's fun.
Me: Especially when you get questions about elevators i.e. I know it's an old one, but I love it.
Ben: What?
Annika: Someone a few years ago asked if there was an elevator in the castle. I wasn't the one that had to answer, but it's just to keep your face, smile and say that they didn't plan that when they started to build the castle back in the middleages.
-------
Author's note! This has really happend, I don't know the story by heart, but I got the "point" of it, so don't yell at me!
-------
Some candy and sounveirs were bought.
Me: See you Saturday Annika?!
Annika: Yes, and Pär's coming too, he's not engaged in something else this weekend.
Me: Great! You're both welcome then.
We got back to "my place" around 4.30 and Ola came just 5 minutes after we sat down in the garden with the coffee. I sat with the back towards the house and suddenly...
-Guess who? I felt a pair of hands over my eyes and a kiss on the head.
Me: Well, well, I certainly hope it's my fiancé otherwise you'll be in big trouble, he's really jealous.
Ola: Is he really??? we both laughed and he lend down to kiss me. But it's right he continued. How did you guess.
Ashley: Yes how did you know? Ola signed to us to keep quite a didn't he Trevor?
Trevor: Yes. And we were quite.
Me: That's it! You weren't quite before. We all laughed at the faces Trevor and Ashley did.
Me: And the fact that I heard the truck just the other minute. Welcome home honey, how was your day?
Ola: Actually it was great. All went smothly. I hadn't tought I'd be home before 6PM tonight. Have you planned anything for dinner?
Me: No, we had a big lunch so I thought I settle for a sallad, but if you like to we can go for pizzas.
Ola: No, a sallad will do fine, it's been so hot in the truck today, so a cold meal is great.
I turned to Ben and Meg: Will you stay?
Ben: No, sorry but we need to get the kids home and in the bath.
Meg: Yes it's been a long day and I need to put my feet up. I don't want anything to do happen to this one. She put her hands on her stomach.
Ben: Do you want to go with us to Malmö tomorrow Tina?
Me: Well I don't think so, I thought I go with Ola tomorrow.
Ben: OK, then see you for dinner Wendesday?!
Ola: Of course, we'll be there.
Chapter 59
July 7th 2000
Dear Diary,
I did go with Ola Tuesday, altough I had to get up before I went to bed(it felt like that). I made us sandwiches for us to have as lunch. When we came to get the truck loaded I was dearly greeted. "We almost thought he was kidding us around for the last two years" the boss there said.
Me: No, I'm for real-but two years?
Boss: Well about two years, I think it was for about a year before he went to America last year.
Me: Well I guess we both know that we wasted a year-that year.
Boss: Then it was too bad you couldn't come at our Christmasparty.
Me: Well I was working, and the others had already made plans, so I couldn't get out of it. But we're having this summer/birthday-party on Saturday. Why don't you take your family and come. It's a BBQ where everyone brings what they like to eat, besides potatoes, that we'll fix.
Boss: I have to ask my wife, but I think we'll come.
Me: Sounds great! If you like anything else than potatoes with your meat you have to bring that, and of course a good mood.
Boss(laughing): Well that won't be hard, but you said birthday..
Me: Well we didn't have a party for Ola's friends when he had his birthday, so it's not really anything.
Boss: I'll give you a call later this week, thanks for inviting us.
Me: Do that, if we're not home, leave a message. I hope to see you.
I knew it should be a long day with not much to do for me, so I'd brought my laptop. I've gotten inspired by my friends on the internet to write a story. I'm writing about how it should be like to live in the Stone Ages. I really got a lot written, I jsut hope they'll like my story now.
We didn't get home until 10PM, but as we stopped at a truckstop for dinner it took a bit longer than planned. And as Ola just had some paperwork to do on Wendesday we didn't get out of bed until 10AM! Well we didn't sleep all morning.....
Around 6PM we arrived at Ben and Meg's or my place...whatever! LOL. We had dinner and then as we were taking the early train to Denmark, we slept there too.
And Denmark on the Thursday was great, or I should really say Copenhagen, because it was just there we were. We took the train over the new bridge- Öresundsbron. When we got to Copenhagen we first went shopping on Ströget-the shoppingstreet(sorry about the Swedish ö, I don't know how to do the Danish ones on my computer). Then we went to Tivoli, it's this big amusment park with a lot of rides, places to eat and a lot more. Me and Ola had a fun time taking the kids on the rides. Ben went on some too, but Meg was satisfied with a round in the children's pariswheel.
Now, today I'm tired. I've been cleaning all day and preparing for tomorrow. Our families are coming in the afternoon and of course Ben and Meg too, and then after 4PM the other's will arrive. I think we get the BBQ going around 6, so there will be some time to chat too. Now I'm going to make it an early night, that is if Ola's letting me. Good night my trusted friend.
Chapter 60
July 8th 2000
Dear Diary,
I guess you're curious about if I got some sleep or not. I did, but afterwards. It was the greatest love in a long time, lately it's sometimes been just so we don't forget how to. But I guess since we've both had a few days off we were more relaxed and not that tired either.
Well this morning I woke up before Ola and went up rather at once. I had a few things to do. I was about to bake some cakes so I went straight to the kitchen. I started the coffeebrewer, at least the breakfast was on it's way now. LOL Then I started to pull out the stuff I needed for my baking, I put all together and started the electric mixer. Then I didn't hear a thing and got really scared when Ola came up behind me and put his arms around my waist.
Ola: Good morning beautiful, he said before he kissed my neck.
Me: Good morning yourself. I turned the electric mixer of and poored the mixture into a baking tin.
Ola: Thanks for last night, it was great!
Me: Yes, wasn't it! It's been some time.
Ola: Yes it has, but that makes it even more great. He started kissing my neck.
Me: Well I'd love to really, but I have a lot to do.
Ola: Later maybe....
Me: Maybe... We both laughed.
Ola: Is there anything I can do?
Me: Yes you can put breakfast on the table, I've already made coffee.
Ola: I can smell that.
We sat down for breakfast and then Ola went out to put the furniture in order. We were going to be a lot of people this evening so we had borrowed some too.
As I was inside I came to think about one thing.
Me: Ola!!!! Ola!!!!
Ola: Yes!
Me: Remember to cover the wholes in the garage over. I mean if we need to move the party inside!
Ola: Oh! I had forgot about that, thanks for reminding me.
The morning went fast and at 12.30 Ben and Meg arrived and soon my family(not Anna and Svenne, they were coming tonight) came and then Ola's mother and sister, his father and grandmother and suddenly we were all there. We had coffee and chatted for a few hours. It was not for a long time, but considering that all our grandparents are over 80 years old, it was quite enough. And we needed to fix a few things before the evening's happenings. We asked Ola's sister to stay as well, and she did. Why shouldn't she really, she's after all in our age.
I have to go now, soon the others are coming, I guess I have to tell you about that tomorrow.
