m a k e . y o u r . o w n wanna try building your own page? go 'head. here's my ten minute guide to web mastering. what you'll need: . computer with internet access . a LOT of patience s t e p . o n e figure out a theme for your site. is it a personal (about me) site, celebrity site, about your pet? s t e p . t w o content. what are you going to put in it? pictures, opinions, quotes? s t e p . t h r e e sign up for a free homepage. several sites offer free web space. if you want to post a lot of pictures, tripod.com is very helpful. if you want to post a quick and simple site, angelfire.com is the best. if you need templates, geocities.com is the way to go. if you're going for direct html, geocities angelfire are your best bets. s t e p . f o u r make the page. you can do this several ways. you can use the quick and easy templates available at the site, or use direct html. you may want to start with templates, then go to html. if you need html help, try htmlgoodies.com. it's very helpful. s t e p . f i v e link your pages together. what good is it to make a hundred pages if people can't get to them? htmlgoodies.com can tell you how to do that. i would tell you myself, but htmlgoodies.com does a much better job. s t e p . s i x advertise! you can go to search engines like yahoo.com or lycos.com and submit your site, but your best bet is *hint* signing other people's guestbook. tip: sign guestbooks that are similar to your site. this is how i do it. it's called guestbook jumping. first find a site similar to yours, surf for a few minutes (it's polite, these people have spent a lot of time on their sites too), sign their guestbook, then view their guestbook, click on a link to someone's homepage, and start all over again. need help? e-mail me at oceanstar4@yahoo.com or visit htmlgoodies.com |
