Chapter 6

"We better get back before the others do." she said looking at her watch.

"Ok," he said standing up. He turned and held his hands down towards her.

"Thanks," Laura said reaching for his hands. He pulled up and stopped.

Oh god... she thought.

Their faces where inches apart and his hands still held onto hers. She was frozen by his eyes, the eyes that she loved about him. The blonde singer came out of her thoughts as she saw him lower his head toward hers. Laura panicked.

"Um... ready?" She said quickly.

It was one of those dreams where you switch roles. They were my words but I was looking out through Lance's eyes. I felt his hurt when 'I' suddenly stopped what was happening.

"Shit," I said waking up from the dream.

Lance lay in his bunk thinking of Laura in the back. Mel had shocked him with the information about Laura's past. Lance finally got up the courage to go and talk to her. The bus was quiet seeing as how it was almost two in the morning.

The two walked into the restaruant that Mel had just left no more than half an hour ago in Laura's dead-lock grip.

"Laura has had it rough when it comes to the love life." Mel stated sitting down.

"What do you mean?" Lance asked concerned.

"Do you remember your first real love?"

"Yeah, who doesn't?"

"That's Laura's problem. He broke up with her, through the mail, after four years of a long distance relationship. But see she still loves him. Not like she used to but in a sense." Mel told him.

"That still doesn't explain what happened tonight." he said hanging his head.

"I probably shouldn't tell you, but Laura's never really been kissed by someone she liked. That's why she bugged out."

Lance stepped up to the curtain and softly whispered a hello.

"Hey," Laura said.

"I figured you'd be asleep," Lance said stepping around the curtain.

"You should talk."

"Well I was thinking."

"About what?" she sat up interested.

"About the other night."

"Oh," Laura said getting silent, a sign of her depression.

"Mel told me about your ex-boyfriend." he said quietly.

"Yeah," Laura said, feeling the tight feeling in her chest at the mention of him.

Lance sat watching my hurtful emotions.

This jerk really hurt her.

"Can I just say that he is missing out on someone great?" Lance said.

She blushed and smiled. "Thanks."

Lance got up and walked to the curtain.

"Lance?"

"Yeah?" he said turning.

"Can we not let this make us weird?" Laura asked.

Lance just smiled. "Sure."

The six sat around the table in the front of the bus. Lance and Laura were missing.

"Where are they, it's almost ten." JC said.

"Maybe they stayed up all night making out." laughed Mel.

"Mel, shut up. You know that's very much unlikely." Amanda said.

"What's unlikely?" asked Lance walking up to them.

"Nevermind," Amanda said.

They other five began laughing at the puzzled expression on Lance's face.

"Chris, were you telling them stories again?" Lance questioned, seeing that Chris was laughing the hardest.

"No man, I haven't said a word." Chris said.

"Where's Laura?" asked Mel with a grin on her face.

"She's not awake?" Lance asked.

"Do you see her here?" Mel stated.

The familiar music started and the spot light suddenly came on. The light always made me disoriented at first but luckily we were talking first off.

"Hello Dallas!!" I screamed.

Screaming erupted as we all walked out from behind the curtain.

"What's up?" Mel asked the audience, recieving more screams.

"First of all, we just want to say how good it feels to be home for the first time in awhile..." Amanda started.

"And trust us, we never figured this is where we would be." I finished.

Our two songs went well. People in the audience were actually singing along with us. We only had one song on the radio and it wasn't really known but we could hear them singing each word with us.

"So, Dallas, did you come here to see us....." Mel asked.

Screams were heard and all we could do was smile.

"No, Mel. You know I think they came to see NSYNC..." I said as the screams got even louder.

"Well let's not keep them waiting. Hey guys?!?" yelled Amanda as the lights went out and screams exploded.

The house was empty as I walked in.

Where's Mom? She's knows we were coming home for two days.

"Want me to set this down here or your room?" asked Lance, who insisted on bringing me home himself.

"Um... right through there," I said pointing straight back while walking over to the counter which held a note.

Laura,
I know you're coming home for a couple days but I had to go to Houston for some interview about you girls. I'll try not to say to much.... :) I love you and see you in a few weeks. I'm going to go to the St. Louis concert along with Davey, Lisa and Devin. Sing with your heart babe.
Love you babe,
Mom
PS~ Sadie and Jimmie are at Bibi's.

My brother is coming to an *NSYNC concert? Mom has to be making him.

"What is it?" Lance asked from the bedroom door.

"Oh, a letter from my mom. She's in Houston for some interview."

"Your mom?"

"Yeah, you know. Like the one's your mom does."

He seemed to thing of this and nodded.

"Well I guess I'll go. You guys are going to show us around a little, right?"

"Um, well Amanda and Mel will probably want to spent time with their parents but I'd be glad to." I said.

"Ok, should I call?" he asked as I tried to stiff a yawn.

"Um, yeah." I said laughing.

"Ok," he started toward the door then stopped. "Can I have the number?"

"Oh," I grabbed a pen and wrote down the digits on a paper and handed it to him.

Lance caught my hand and held it. "Get some sleep, ok?"

"I plan on it."

"Good, call you tomorrow."

"Ok," I said.

He squeezed my hand and leaned down and kissed my cheek.

Closing the door I had a faint smile on my face which went with his grin.
