Chapter 1

~NOTE~ The begining is a true story of an upcoming band, Angelhart. The people in the story are real people of an unknown Dallas suburban band. This is their TRUE story... ~ Laura

We were all *NSYNC fans and it was because of them that our band was created. After getting into their music, I wanted to know more. I later learned that they put the band together themselves. This gave me an idea.

I would say that the whole thing started my first day at work for Movies 8. My previous job at another theater had been terminated due to closing the place down. So there I was, being trained on new projectors.

These are much better than ours. I thought to myself. Wait a minute, Silver doesn't exist anymore. It's closed.

"You got that?" the voice pulled me out of my reminiscing.

"Hmm?" I asked, confused.

"It's easier to go from the bottom up." my new manager, Amanda said.

"Oh, yeah I got it." I said.

"You ready to try?" she asked me.

"Sure," I traded spots with her and started lacing the projector. "It's almost the same as the one's at Silver." I told her.

"Yeah, I saw those once. Decades old." she laughed.

"I know. The only one that ever gave me trouble was eight." I said.

We had basically just met but we talked to each other like we'd known each other for months.

Another night at work, I loved this job. Of course, I'm a movie buff also. The time that half the theater was waiting for finally came, Coyote Ugly. The movie that Amanda and I first discovered each others voice talents. That night I was put on the Usher team. Amanda, Andie, Wan and I walked into Coyote Ugly just as the credits came on the screen. After turning the overhead lights on so we could see, I began to pick up the numerous cups and empty popcorn bags. Not really thinking I began singing the song coming from the speakers. Amanda, who had been sweeping the floors behind me, joined in with me. That was when we first heard each other singing.

Several nights later, my mom and I went up to watch a movie. As I sat watching the end to Coyote Ugly for the fifth or sixth time. I felt something by my shoulder, looking up I saw Amanda.

"Hey," I said to her.

"Oh, hey." she said while turning on the lights.

The credits began and I stood in the deserted theater and began helping her clean up while we sang. After a moment a couple walked in and sat down while Amanda and I kept on singing. Our first audience didn't really look interested at why two girls where singing in a theater while picking up trash.

A few months later, I no longer worked there. That day I sat in class writing down the "Words Of Power" in my Co-Op class. In the teacher's office the phone rang.

"Laura," she said as she walked out of her office. "Jennifer is picking you up today."

"Oh, ok. Thanks Ms. 'D.'" I said.

As I walked out of the front door of the school, standing outside was Jennifer and Amanda. I ran up to Amanda and gave her a hug.

"Oh, my god. It's been to long." I told her.

After she talked to my teacher about why I quit Movies 8, we went to my house to hang out for a while.

"I squish your head," came Amanda's voice from speakers on my television.

Amanda and I began laughing at Jennifer's expense. We had made a recording of Amanda and I singing while we hung out in my bedroom one day.

"Mommy!!!" she whined. "Sissy, Mommy doesn't love me anymore."

"Well, that's okay, you see 'cause I don't love you either," I laughed.

Jennifer stood shocked and then tried to tackle me. "Fuck you," she yelled at me while we all laughed.

As we continued to laugh, I rewound the tape and turned to Amanda. "Why don't we do that?"

"Do what?" she asked, confused.

"Start a band."

"Yeah, you should. You guys could almost pass as sisters," commented Jennifer.

"Well," I asked.

Amanda seemed to be thinking and then shook her head.

"Yes, alright." I celebrated.

With Christmas coming I had the perfect gift for us.

"Mel, to your register please," I said into the intercom.

It was another boring day at a job I'd grown to hate. And I had to stay at this job until the end of school. The new girl finally made it to her register to help me out with the amount of customers in my line. But it was to be expected, we were closing in ten minutes.

"Have a good night, ma'am," I said as the woman departed.

Mel was always singing. She never stopped while she was taking care of her customers. Many of them gave her compliments and some just looked at her like she was going psycho.

That night Mel spent the night. But the shock I got when she walked into my room...

"AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!! He's so cute," she screamed as she saw the posters of Lance on my wall.

She had to look and almost touch each picture. She couldn't get enough of him, but neither could I. We stayed up that night watching everything I had about NSYNC and looked at most of my books.

"Take a look at this," I told her while picking up a shirt. "This is my band, well the one I'm trying to make."

I showed her the shirt I had made Mom and I and the one for Sadie, Angelhart's Number One Fan. Each had a heart with a halo and the name 'ANGELHART' above it in an arc, with our names on the back. For Sadie it was vertical and Mom's read: STAGE MOM.

Now that we had our members, we had to get to work. This was rather difficult since Amanda now worked two jobs and Mel and I worked every weekend. This was a problem, we never had the same days off.

"Come on, Mel, you have to teach me how to dance." I said pulling her off the couch. I was determined that this time it was going to work.

"Ok," she said getting up and walking to her stereo. " We need a song that all of us know so all we have to worry about is a dance."

This was easy for me and the idea came quickly. "NSYNC," I said. But I was met with a blank stare. "We already know all the songs. All of us."

We soon decided on "You Got It." It was perfect, upbeat and a very good dance song.

"No, you got to open the hand." she screamed at me for the third time. This was going to be a little harder than I thought. I knew I was a terrible dancer but this was the worst. Each time she came up with a move she had to go extra slow to where she would almost forget what she had come up with. Then when I'd finally get the move she would try and change it because it took so long to teach a simple move to me.

"We have to leave space open for Amanda," I told her.

"I know, she's in the middle."

Now all we have to do is finish the dance and teach it to Amanda, which would probably take a shorter amount of time. I had no rhythm what-so-ever.

"Do you know someone on Yahoo! Messanger named Stephen?" my mom asked as I got in the car one day after school.

"Yeah, that's Stephanie." I said not thinking. "No, wait she's on MSN Messanger. So no."

"Oh well he came up and started talking to me. He's really nice." she said.

When we got home I got online to check my e-mail. I had just barely gotten on when a instant message came on my screen.

"That's him," my mom pointed at the screen.

"Who are you?" I wrote.

"I just talked to you, don't you remember?" was his response.

"No, you could have been talking to my mom but wasn't me." I typed with a smile on my face.

"Oh...."

So we talked for the remainder of his work day. Steve was two hours behind me. We talked about just about everything, trying to get to know one another. But Steve would prove to be more of a friend than I could have ever imagined.

I got some good advice from the weirdest place, a movie. One of my favorite movies, Sister Act II, Whoopi tells 'Rita' that if she 'wakes up in the morning and can't think of nothin' but singin' first, then she's suppost to be a singer'. This was my problem, I couldn't think of nothing except singing, even in school. I could be in the car on the way home and all of a sudden all I wanted to do was sing.

This is where Steve came in.

"You need to make a demo for me and I'll send it around for you."

"Steve, you'd do that for me?"

"Of course, bebe." he responded with a smile.

So there I was trying to get a hold of Amanda and Mel so we could make a demo. This was the problem, Amanda worked two jobs and only had off every other Tuesday and I worked every Tuesday. A delima I would have to conquer.

The day was May 5, 2001 when all of us finally got together at the same time. Finally Mel and Amanda were meeting. We had gone up to the theater to visit her and, I believe, that Amanda and Mel hit it off instantly.

We were all standing around talking. I was telling Amanda that we had been putting together a dance and that we've been leaving her spot open and that we would teach it to her sometime. "And she was like 'Does she like to shake it? Cause I know I do." I said laughing.

Amanda just shook her head 'yes'. "See I told you...." I told Mel.
