>ANDREW HOY WINS TEAM 3DE GOLD AND INDIVIDUAL 3DE SILVER AT THE 2000 OLYMPICS!!

Andrew Hoy: 3 times gold medalist

Andrew Hoy was first seen in Lexington in 1978 and he has been representing his grand country in eventing ever since. His star studded line up of horses over the years have included Kiwi- the horse he won the team gold at the 1992 Barcelona Olympic games on and more recently, Darien Powers whom he has had great success with.

In Barcelona 92' the Australian's were sitting in the silver medal position until Andrew Nicholson from New Zealand (who were sitting in the gold medal position) came out in the showjumping and had 9 showjumps down to let the Aussies win gold. Andrew Hoy started his epic olypmic gallop to glory right here.

Now 2 olympics later we find Andrew a 3 times gold medalist, a record to equal that of the great DAWN FRASER. His big, grey 3/4 Thoroughbred 1/4 Warmblood gelding Darien Powers has excelled in the discipline of 3 day eventing having carried Andrew to the team gold in Atlanta 1996 with a faultless showjumping round and a near perfect cross country. Darien Powers was only 8 then. Now this grey, rather ghost-like, horse has done it again for Andrew who later gave credit to his wonderful mount.

Now at the 2000 Olympics, Andrew was in the winning team for the 3 day event but also took a Silver medal in the Individual 3 day event on Swizzle In.
