Rise and shine, it's coffee time.......

Greetings from the Pacific Northwest!

….ah, cyberspace…what a wonderful place. You can actually grab your fifteen minutes of fame and see your name in lights

While many think that Seattle is nothing more than an old seaport town, with a pulse that revolves around the Space Needle, most tourists are wonderfully surprised to find an eclectic mix of old, new and everything in between. This old seaport town is made up of many individual neighborhoods that all connect and bring their unique personality to enhance the expanding appeal of The Emerald City.

Here are some of the everyday words that make the heart beat of Seattle come alive with panache: MicroSoft, Starbucks, Amazon.com and Nordstrom’s,

Now, there is a big catch to living in Seattle. These people do not seem to be able to come up with regular names for their streets. Most streets are numbers with a directional as a prefix or a suffix. It’s always something like NE this or SW something else. You can be driving on the same street for three miles and have the name of the street change three times. Do yourself a favor….buy a Thomas Brothers Guide. It will help to save your sanity and you will not get a headache or a tummy ache.

While Seattle may be great and I go there several times a week, I have found that living on the outskirts of Seattle is where the real beauty of Western Washington is to be found. And I chose Edmonds, voted to be the friendliest town in the Puget Sound. Even if you have to wait in line to get on the Kingston ferry, you don’t just sit in your car - you get out and mingle - have a cup of coffee or a soda.

Edmonds has flowers, lots and lots of flowers. We have an old movie house that has been wonderfully restored, and lots of cute boutiques, coffee, coffee and more coffee. There is Rory’s Pub and Grill, Las Brisas Mexican Family Restaurant and Anthony‘s Beachside Café. A bakery, a post office, hair and skin salons, a family owned supermarket, antiques, antique malls, a quaint bed and breakfast, a shop that sells bears and dolls, a wine shop, a year around Christmas shop, a special shop for angel lovers, a water fountain in the center of downtown and some of the best people you could ever want as neighbors. The Edmonds Chamber of Commerce works hard all year long to provide us with activities such as the Waterfront Festival, Taste of Edmonds, Fourth of July parade and fireworks, The Edmonds Art Festival and of course holiday ho-ho-ho’s with Santa Claus and hot chocolate and Christmas caroling on the beach.

I dabble in astrology, read the tarot, collect Limoges porcelain and love to garden and entertain.
