In the folk imagination it is said that fairies don't only live in "fairyland" but also imagines that they live in every day environments such as hills, trees, and streams.
The belief in fairies was an almost universal belief of early folk culture. Irish fairy tales by William Butler Yeats say that Fairies are decribed as being a few inches high, airy and almost transparnt in body and so delicate in their form that a dewdrop, when they dance on it, trembles but never breaks.
They are sensetive however they often play pranks. So to keep them from not being sneaky you should speak well of them. Bad fairies are thought of to be responsible for such misfortunes as the bewitching of children.
Halloween night is generally on the 31st of october for most parts of America, and is meant to be on the 1st of May for Australia (but Australians follow the American tradition of the 31st) and bad fairies were thought to be associated with the halloween mischeif.
