Tyler Baze Breaks Out Of Mini-slump With Two Wins

August 7, 2002
Del Mar Stable Notes

Young Tyler Baze ended a victory drought Monday at Del Mar with two riding wins on the eight-race card. The 2000 Eclipse Award winning apprentice rode his first winner of the meeting in Monday's opening event with Silver Magic, and came back with win No. 2 in the fourth race aboard Ah Struck.

Reflecting on how a slump affects a rider's confidence, Baze said, "You just hope the horses will run better. It's tough on a person, mentally, but you just have to keep trying. Horses have good days and bad days, just like people. You just never can give up."

SHORE LINES (Aug 9)-- After quite a stretch without a riding victory, Tyler Baze finds himself on a mini-winning streak. He broke his winless streak on Monday with two victories and has followed that with one win on Wednesday and two on Thursday
