Louvain wins Ramser Stakes at Santa Anita

ARCADIA, Calif. - Louvain won the $100,000 Harold C. Ramser Stakes on Sunday at Santa Anita's Oak Tree meeting.

Louvain rallied around the final turn, took the lead in midstretch and held off a late charge by Shining Energy to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

Jockey Tyler Baze rode the filly to victory after Patrick Valenzuela was forced to take off his remaining mounts with a foot injury after the third race.

Louvain covered one mile on the turf in 1:35.14 and paid $10.40, $5.40 and $3.40. Shining Energy returned $5 and $3, while Thatswhatimean was another two lengths back in third and paid $2.80 to show.

Trained by Bobby Frankel, Louvain earned $60,000 to increase her career winnings to $223,883, with four wins in 11 starts.
