"Bad things happen to good people. This I can accept. Good things happen to bad people. This I can accept. Tit for tat. Eye for an eye. A door closes another opens. These I can accept, but a day this beautiful deserves to be free of tragedy. " ~ Sebastian Hunter

Amanda Isabelle Hunter was born like any other child, within a hospital bed in a land whose name has since been forgotten. She had natural auburn curls and the darkest of brown eyes. However, there was nothing natural about her birth. Her mother died while giving birth to her, which isn’t terribly unusual, but she was the one meant to die on that morning. Her father, Sebastian, had more worries than any other parent could. He had a terrible secret he didn’t know how to share with her. You see, though forbidden against both heaven and hell, the Angel, Sebastian, and his mortal wife, Isabelle, chose to have a child. Unsuccessful several times, and beyond the point of frustration, when Isabelle became pregnant again, Sebastian made a choice that would later cost him his life: He stole the last breath of Isabelle and passed it to his daughter as she was born. Angels can do that sort of thing, after all, but with severe punishment of death.

"I’ve done and seen so much. I’ve never had my one desire, and now that I do, because of the frailties of Biology, I’m left to raise you alone. Every child needs a mother, and ever father; a child, but I’m afraid, my dear, we can’t both have our way. I can only hope that when you’re old enough to understand, you won’t blame yourself. But, for now, let us celebrate your new life, sweet Utopia. We have the entirety of it to address other concerns." ~S.H.

Sebastian did his best to raise her, and swore to tell her the truth one day, of her Angelic heritage, but on the eve of her thirteenth birthday, Amanda found him dead upon the floor of the home in which they lived. Beside him, also covered in blood, was a small brown package, tied with a silver ribbon. She took it from him carefully, her hands trembling. Her fingers twisted through the ribbon, gently untying it to reveal a few bright white feathers, spotted with blood, and an emerald ring. They had belonged to him. A man she knew well as a friend of hers swept her away from her home. She lived with him for a short while, but as soon as she was old enough, she set out to the land of Tyrant, where she would try to seek revenge under the name which her father blessed her with: Utopia.
