chapter eight
"Why'd..we do that?" I asked half panting half laughing.
"Um, being in a movie theater for two hours makes me feel like
running," he said with a big smile.
"Alright, where to captain?"
"How about a park?" I nodded and we walked to the park. We stopped at
a hot dog stand on the way.
"I'm starving," he said.
"Yeah me too." We got our hot dogs and went to find a place to eat.
"Hey, come here," he said. I followed him under a Weeping Willow tree.
The branches hung low and separated us from the rest of the park.
"Wow. I've lived here all my life and never noticed this," I said.
"Yeah, it's beautiful." We finished our lunch and just sat under the
tree.
"So..." I said. "I've been meaning to ask you, where have you
been this whole time your family's been out here?" Justin looked hesitant.
"Well...Um...I should tell you. I'm part of the singing group *Nsync. We've
been on tour over in Europe and we just got back the day my mom had the
baby."
"Wow, I knew I knew you from somewhere!" I said. "Now it all fits."
"Please don't tell anyone. I hope you're not mad at me."
"How could I be mad at a guy with those eyes?" Justin leaned over and
I knew he was going to kiss me. Boom!! Thunder rang out and we jumped up before
we had the chance to kiss.
"Oh no, it's gonna rain," I said.
"Yeah, we better get to the car." We ran just as it began to pour. We
both jumped in the car as fast as we could. Justin put the key in and turned on
the ignition. It put-putted and died.
"Great, the motor's dead," said Justin. "Looks like we're going
to have to walk."
"That's ok, I love walking in the rain. Except for the fact that it's about
45 degrees out."
"Don't worry, I'll keep you warm," Justin said with a grin. We both
smiled and got out. Luckily, the park wasn't that far from the house. We got to
my house soaking wet. We went in and I immediately turned on the heater.
"What time is it?" I asked.
"About 9:50."
"Wow, I didn't know it was that late."
"Yeah, me either."
"My mom wants you to stay with me until she gets home, ok?"
"Alright. Oh look at you, you're shaking."
"I'm just cold that's all. I'll be fine once the heat comes on." He
came over to me and started to rub my shoulders to warm me up.
"Better?" he asked.
"Much." I lifted my head to stare into his deep blue eyes. I realized
how much I wanted him to kiss me. He then leaned forward and gently put his lips
to mine. I smiled and pulled back. Then I heard the garage door open.
"I better go," said Justin softly.
"Yeah," I replied. "See you tomorrow." Justin left as my mom
walked in.
"So, how was your day?" she asked.
"Not bad," I said. "Not bad at all."
