chapter seven
The next morning I awoke with a smile on my face. I didn't remember why until
I thought about the day before. I sat in bed awhile thinking of what Justin and
I could do that day. I got up and went to the bathroom.
"Shan honey, do you want some waffles?" my mom called.
"Yeah, I'll be right down." I jumped down the stairs and into the
kitchen. "Morning!" I said cheerfully.
"Somebody's in a good mood."
"Yeah, I guess," I said smiling. My mom served me a waffle and I got
up to get myself some milk.
"So what are you gonna do today?" she asked.
"Well..." I said in between bites. "Justin wants me to show him
around."
"Who's Justin?"
"Ya know..Lynn's son. The one who gave me a ride to the hospital yesterday."
"Oh yeah. Where has he been all this time?"
"I dunno. Maybe at college or something."
"O.k., well have a fun time. I'm not going to be here tonight until 10 or
so. I have to go into the Industry Office which is an hour away. So stay with
Justin or Lynn or have him come over here. I don't want you staying alone."
"O.k. Well I'm gonna go take a shower. Thanks for breakfast."
"I'll probably be gone by the time you get out. Have fun today."
"Alright I will. Bye Mom."
"Bye Sweetie."
I took a quick shower and went to my room to get dressed. "What to wear,
what to wear.." I thought to myself. I decided to go with faded blue flares,
a blue tanktop and my Roxy sandals. I gave myself one last check before heading
out the door. Satisfied, I left and walked over to Justin's. I nervously rang
the doorbell.
"Hey," Justin said as he came out.
"Hey yourself," I said with a grin.
"Come inside. I'm waiting for Jon's friend to pick him up." We waited
until Jon was gone.
"So what do you wanna do today?" I asked.
"Um..walk around, see this whole place."
"Believe me, there's nothing much to see."
"That's ok. We'll figure something out." We went outside and hopped
into his car.
"Whoa..Where'd ya get this baby?" I asked. His car was a maroon '98
Mercedes M Class.
"It was a gift from my parents for doing a good job on tou- on school and
stuff," he said nervously. I gave him a confused look but shrugged it off.
The first thing we drove by was a mall.
"Let's go here," Justin said.
"Are you sure you want to go to a mall?" I asked.
"Yeah, I haven't been to one in a long time."
"Alright, whatever you want." We walked in and headed for the
directory.
"Hey, there's a movie theater in here?" asked Justin.
"Yeah, wanna see one?"
"Sure, which one's are playing?"
"Um...Armageddon, Saving Private Ryan...and some other gay ones."
"Let's see Armageddon." We went in the theater and found some seats in
the back since it was already full. During the whole movie these girls kept
staring at Justin and me. When the movie ended Justin jumped up and headed for
the door.
"C'mon, let's get outta here," he said. We got outside breathless.
