chapter one
"Oh
sure, you need some time to take a break Gean, you’re working too hard,"
Gean muttered as she dragged her heavy suitcase out the Mauritius International
airport, mimicking the voices of her colleagues. True, she appreciated the fact
that they really cared, but she was in no mood for a holiday.
The
young brunnette woman managed to squeeze between other tourists and passengers
and made it to the exit. Gean’s eyes grew narrow in frustration as someone
walked past and knocked into her without so much as an apology. Her lips opened
to form a rude word, but decided to let it slide.
At
least they paid for this holiday. Geez, what had they packed into this suitcase
anyway? Gean
thought as she looked down at the baggage in her hand. Not only had they
presented her with a return ticket and a paid four-night stay at the Ritz, they
had also presented to her a suitcase full of clothes they had bought.
Yeah,
well, sure, insulting my dress sense much,
Gean thought. Like I would take fashion advice from Sean who’s favorite
shirt is pink, of all colors.
As she
approached the curb towards a waiting cab, a taller male rushed past her and
beat her to the cab. He was carrying a heavy backpack, which hit Gean’s arm
hard, but he didn’t even notice.
