chapter four

In only a matter of a few seconds, they reached the parking lot. It was dark and empty, except for Justin's lone car. Emily ran ahead of him to his car. "Ooh, it's a Mercedes!" she exclaimed with a radiant smile.

"Yep," Justin answered proudly as he unlocked the car doors.

"Your parents actually bought you a Mercedes?" Emily's eyes widened as she watched Justin lean into the car and pull out his sandals.

"Are you kidding me? My parents would never buy me a Mercedes!" Justin laughed as he slipped his feet into the sandals. "I had to buy this baby with my own money."

"Where'd you get that much money?" Emily asked curiously.

"Well," Justin shifted around sort of uncomfortably. "You see, me and my friends sort of...are in a music group. I don't know if you've heard of us, we're called Nsync."

"I wouldn't know, I don't really listen to the radio. But that's really cool that you have a music group," Emily couldn't keep from smiling.

"As much as I hate to, I have to be going," Justin sighed. "Hopefully I'll see you around," Justin ran his hands through his hair.

"I'm sure we'll meet again," Emily spoke softly.

"Good," Justin turned around and got in his car. He closed the door. "Well, good-" Justin stopped mid-sentence when he looked out his car door window to see no Emily. He shivered and started the car. "Goodbye Emily," he whispered as he quickly drove away.

Emily stood standing in the parking spot where Justin's car had been as she watched him drive away. It feels so good to have someone finally notice me she thought to herself and then turned and headed home with a smile still lingering on her face.
